Massive open online course Poster, entitled "MOOC, every letter is negotiable", exploring the meaning of the words "Massive Open Online Course" A massive open online course (MOOC /muːk/) is an online course aimed at unlimited participation and open access via the web.[1] In addition to traditional course materials such as filmed lectures, readings, and problem sets, many MOOCs provide interactive user forums to support community interactions among students, professors, and teaching assistants (TAs). MOOCs are a recent and widely researched development in distance education which were first introduced in 2006 and emerged as a popular mode of learning in 2012.[2][3] MOOCs: Top 10 Sites for Free Education With Elite Universities MOOC stands for Massive Open Online Courses. MITx MOOC helps a farmer develop an autonomous tractor app Like most business owners, farmers are always seeking an edge to improve efficiency, productivity, and profitability. For grain producer Matt Reimer, the search for that edge drove him to MITx on edX — the massive open online courses (MOOCs) offered by MIT — and led him to develop a computer program that revolutionized his farm. Reimer grew up on his family’s farm in Manitoba, Canada, where work often starts at sunrise and continues late into the night. For several years, he’s been looking into ways of using remote-control technology to accelerate harvest production. “We’ve had auto-steering tractors for a long time now, but that’s just the ability to drive straight up and down the field without input from the operator,” Reimer explains.

Why Google Will Enter The E-Learning Industry I am not really big on “what-ifs”, but I thought about an interesting concept recently as I pondered the current state of our industry. When you consider that e-learning (and now m-learning) is growing exponentially in terms of revenue generated, it’s not all that inconceivable to think that a juggernaut like Google would enter the fray to get their piece of the pie. I mean, think about it. They certainly have all the technical know-how, the brand name, the reach, the resources, among other things, to enter the market and make a big splash.
