3D , illusions etc.. Zydonia Beach Released onto the world at Christmas 2003, Zydonia Beach was an 'update' of the old Rororer Island series. It was created with the fantastic ArtGem paint package, over a period of about 6 months. The Wonderful World of 2D and 3D Fractal Geometry - Pxleyes.com Blog Fractals are shapes that can be split into several parts and every part is a reduced size of the whole. They usually have fine structures at arbitrarily small scales, being too irregular to be described in traditional Euclidean geometric language. Fractals have an infinite complexity and it’s almost impossible to reproduce such a complicated image. In the last decade fractals gained a lot of popularity, especially that now they can be generated with special software or created in other digital manners. For the ones who don’t own such software or haven’t learned how to use it yet, know that fractals can be quite easily found in nature too, and artistically expressed through photography. The following article presents 50 amazing fractal art pictures, expressed on 3 levels: 2D digital manipulations, 3D images and photography of natural fractals.

15 Fascinating Light Sculptures The directors of the National Malus Collection invited Heatherwick Studio to develop the design of this structure, called "The Sitooterie", for their site in Essex. This two-story tall glass-and-light sculpture representing fire greets FireLake Grand Casino visitors. Illuminated cubes, visual effects and electronic beats: these are the ingredients of the Kubik temporary open air clubs in Berlin and Barcelona. The dynamic space, light and sound sculpture is based on standard industrial liquid storage tanks. The incorporation of a light bulb turns the plastic tanks into giant luminaires, which can be stacked and arranged to form objects of varying sizes and shapes. Curated by Paul Schimmel, this matrix-like light sculpture is called "Ecstasy: In and About Altered States."

sharky tea infuser - designboom jan 19, 2009 sharky by pablo matteoda from argentina designer's own words: INFUSION means to extract certain properties from an soluble ingredient such as tea leaves , herbs or fruit by soaking in liquid (water) until it gets saturated. The neuroscientific study of hallucinogens Recently, an important and landmark paper was published in PLoS ONE (hooray open access!) titled, "Investigating the Mechanisms of Hallucinogen-Induced Visions Using 3,4-Methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA): A Randomized Controlled Trial in Humans". It sounds daunting, but trust me, it's a very cool, approachable study.

Fractals Here is some Mathematica code to numerically solve this using the Beeman integration scheme with the predictor-corrector modification: (* runtime: 45 seconds, increase n for higher resolution *) n = 40; tmax = 25; dt = 0.1; h = 0.25; g = 0.2; mu = 0.07; zlist = {Sqrt[3] + I, -Sqrt[3] + I, -2I}; image = Table[z = x + I y; v = a = a1 = 0; Do[z += v dt + (4a - a1)dt^2/6; vpredict = v + (3a - a1)dt/2; a2 = Plus @@ ((zlist - z)/(h^2 + Abs[zlist - z]^2)^1.5) - g z - mu vpredict; v += (2a2 + 5a - a1)dt/6; a1 =a; a = a2, {t, 0, tmax, dt}]; r = Abs[z - zlist]; Hue[Position[r, Min[r]][[1, 1]]/3], {y, -5.0, 5.0, 10.0/n}, {x, -5.0, 5.0, 10.0/n}]; Show[Graphics[RasterArray[image]], AspectRatio -> 1] The picture on the left shows another version with five magnets. Create Digital Motion » Code as Art: Generative Visual Inspirati Generative works from Keith Peters, on his new Art from Code site. As code literacy improves and coding tools like Processing and Flash make it easier to produce stunning visual results, the line between the coder/hacker and digital artist, and more conventional artists, is blurring fast. The next trend: networks and blogs on which people share not just their work, but the code behind it. The idea is old, but there’s no question the breadth of content and number of participants is expanding – and beginners are welcome, too. The Flash Virtuoso, and Galleries vs.
