Connectivism – a Learning Theory for the Future - CHECK.point-elearning.com Connectivism – a Learning Theory for the Future Karlsruhe/Weserbergland (GER), November 2011 - In the age of Wikipedia, Facebook, Twitter, etc., new forms of learning are developing. Gaining in importance is networked, more informal learning with the aid of social media during leisure time - but also in schools, universities, and the working world. Prof. Dr. Volkmar Langer, president of the Weserbergland University, will give a talk entitled "Connectivism as a Learning Model of the Future" at the LEARNTEC Conference on 31 January 2012 in the "Technology 2" session. Connectivism is a relatively young learning theory that relates to education in the digital age. Being linked via nodes and connections is the central metaphor for learning. In Professor Langer’s assessment, this development has positive effects but also negative ones.

Top 5 eLearning Skills for 2011 Posted by Eric Matas in eLearning Careers. Tags: eLearning, eLearning Job Skills, mLearning, Social Learning trackback What are the skills you need to land an elearning job? Working in elearning taps into many skill sets. Designing or developing elearning requires experience in training and project management as much as audio and video production. I focus here on what I think are the top skills for elearning now, in 2011. Given that trend, I hope readers aren’t surprised when I leave instructional design off my list. 1. Photoshop has been a constant in elearning job descriptions for a while. 2. Cisco experts predict 90% of the internet (consumer IP traffic) will be video by 2013. 3. The tools I see most are Captivate and Articulate. 4. Social learning is still finding its place in corporate elearning. 5. Being able to push elearning modules to mobile devices will continue to gain in importance. Like this: Like Loading...

VET Standards Following on from its November 2012 decision to mandate reporting of VET activity for all RTOs, the Standing Council on Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment (SCOTESE), on 7 June 2013, endorsed the standards and policy to underpin the implementation of the new reporting requirements from 1 January 2014. The standards for RTOs (both the Data Provision Requirements as part of the NVR VET Quality Framework, and the Australian Quality Training Framework) have been amended to reflect SCOTESE’s decision to introduce enhanced reporting requirements for RTOs. The amended standards and underpinning policy are now available, with all RTOs required to comply with the new standards from 1 January 2014. The National VET Provider Collection Data Requirements Policy outlines the requirements on all RTOs in collecting and reporting their nationally recognised training to the National VET Provider Collection managed by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research.
