Let's Get Physical: The Psychology of Effective Workout Music “I dare them to find the iPod on me,” Richie Sais told the New York Times in 2007, when he was preparing to run the Marine Corps Marathon. USA Track & Field, the national governing body for distance racing, had just decided to ban athletes from using portable music players in order "to ensure safety and to prevent runners from having a competitive edge." Rais resolved to hide his iPod shuffle under his shirt. For some athletes and for many people who run, jog, cycle, lift weights and otherwise exercise, music is not superfluous—it is essential to peak performance and a satisfying workout. In the last 10 years the body of research on workout music has swelled considerably, helping psychologists refine their ideas about why exercise and music are such an effective pairing for so many people as well as how music changes the body and mind during physical exertion. Selecting the most effective workout music is not as simple as queuing up a series of fast, high-energy songs.

Übersicht Day Of Wedding Planning | Wedding Day Advice | Wedding Tips When I started planning my wedding, I had these romantic notions that I would begin my wedding day leisurely picking out flowers with my bridesmaids at a local farmer’s market, and then we would arrange all of our centerpieces and bouquets ourselves while sipping mimosas and lounging in matching bathrobes at the hotel. Then we would be transported to our hair salon on a fluffy cloud carriage pulled by miniature unicorns…you get the idea. These ideas were all just slightly insane. Editors’ Pick: ‘Wifey’ terry-cloth hoodies; Plum Pretty Sugar robes. Make your bridesmaids wear something similar for great group shots, too. 2. Always be prepared. Make yourself notes if necessary – I myself left my grandmother’s diamond earrings at the hotel, and ended up walking down the aisle wearing a pair from Forever 21. 3. Stick to the basics. 4. 5. Pace yourself… it will be a long night. 6. The bride shouldn’t be caught with a clutch — no matter how cute. 7. You should be as relaxed as possible. 8. 9.
