Indian Country Today Media Network Atheist Sees Image of Big Bang in Piece of Toast More trouble with new Mosque building For Immediate Release: Miracle Toast? (ACPA-London) Excitement is growing in the Northern England town of Huddersfield following news that local atheist Donald Chapman saw an image of the Big-Bang in a piece of toast. In an exclusive interview with "The Huddersfield Express" Chapman, 36, explained that he was sitting down to eat breakfast when an unusual toast pattern caught his eye. "I was just about to spread the butter when I noticed a small hole in the middle of the bread surrounded by a burnt black ring," said Chapman. Ever since news of the discovery made national headlines, local hoteliers have been overwhelmed by an influx of atheists from all over the country who have flocked to Huddersfield to catch a glimpse of the scientific relic. To the surprise of many, the UK Atheist Association has asked its members to ignore the story despite its potential to inspire less faith. Thanks for visiting! Sorry Media, This Election Won't be About the Economy and Jobs By: Jason Easley June 1st, 2012 see more posts by Jason Easley The mainstream media has constructed a storyline that the 2012 election is all about the economy and jobs, but what if it isn’t? Today’s news that the unemployment rate has ticked up to 8.2% has brought about the usual media howls about how this is total and comprehensive doom for Obama. Mitt Romney put out his usual daily statement about the president being a failure, and Republicans blamed Democrats, while Democrats blamed Republicans, but beneath all of this back and forth is an unproven premise that this election is all about the economy and jobs. The problem is that this election probably won’t be about the economy and jobs, and the whole ball of wax is based on something that doesn’t exist. Back in Jefferson’s day with voting limited to a very small group of white men, it was easy to have an informed electorate, but over time our politics have changed. Voters don’t behave rationally. Which candidate do I like best?

Florida Concocts Signature Test to Purge Democratic Voters By: Adalia Woodbury May 30th, 2012 see more posts by Adalia Woodbury While voter suppression is nothing new, Rick Scott has taken it to the extreme with a variety of measures ranging from restricting registration, to voter purging and a signatures please law. Among the people, the people on Scott’s list of ineligible voters is a World War II veteran. The restrictions on voter registration have clearly had the results Rick Scott wants. Because of those rules, and their potential penalties, the League of Women Voters and some other groups have stopped conducting voter registration drives in Florida. The purpose of the voter purge is to eliminate non-citizens from the voter rolls to solve the non-existent problem of voter fraud. Many citizens under Florida’s voter suppression laws have been erroneously identified as Non-Citizens based on the very issues that excluded people erroneously tagged as felons in 2004. - and sent letters informing them that they were ineligible to vote. - Another

Taegan Goddard's Political Wire Wanderlust drove our female ancestors far from the home cave | Science Ancient forerunners of modern men stayed close to where they were born but paired up with females from far beyond their local stomping grounds, a new study claims. The research provides a rare insight into the social behaviour of primitive "hominins" that appears to match closely that seen in chimpanzees and bonobos today. Scientists analysed fossilised remains around cave networks near Johannesburg in South Africa and found that while 90% of males appeared to have spent their whole lives in the area, at least half the females had come from farther afield. The work suggests that males regularly stayed with the community they were born into, with females roaming into new territories as they reached sexual maturity, the scientists report in the journal, Nature. The team reached their conclusions after studying remnants of fossilised teeth belonging to two extinct species that lived in the region more than a million years ago.

Have a Very Liberal Memorial Day (video) Memorial Day is about remembering the soldiers who fought for American values. There is a somber aspect to Memorial Day when we remember that people sacrificed their lives in the name of the freedoms that the far right mocks in its quest to establish an America that would have the Founding Fathers rolling in their graves. At the same time, Memorial Day is a celebration of those very freedoms which the paranoid right wing mocks. This video makes the point so very well. Courtesy of lipstickliberalnet on youtube. Peaceful Protest against the Preacher Who Wants Concentration Camps for Gays and Lesbians Earlier this week, I wrote an article for politicususa about Charles Worley, a pastor in North Carolina who called for putting gays and lesbians in concentration camp during one of his sermons. His “sermon” was in response to the President’s recent announcement that he supports same sex marriage. The content of his “sermon” was pretty graphic. But, if you want to confirm that this is for real and you have a very strong stomach, you can check out the video of Worley’s sermon here. What sort of person could possibly listen to the sort of rhetoric that is reminiscent of Nazi Germany, minus the pink triangles? Well, there is one and Anderson Cooper found her. This woman is an example why inbreeding should be forbidden, people. According to her logic, the Pastor didn’t mean he wanted a concentration camp for Gays and Lesbians. Obviously, she isn’t the only one who supports these ideas. It’s one thing to believe that homosexuality is wrong and oppose social recognition of their relationships.
