Allens Rivulet House: a mix of spaces in Tasmania Somewhere in Tasmania between green fields and trees there’s a special two-story building of 346sqm called Allens Rivulet House. A brilliant mix of context and program is reflected in a sequence of fully enclosed to semi-enclosed spaces. All rooms are arranged in response to a spatial key element determined by the client: the kitchen.

The Evolution Of Icon Design From 1981-2013 December 4, 2013 • By Joe Howard • In Design With the GUI having now been around for over 40 years, today we are taking a look back in time at the evolution of an integral feature – the icon. Since the early 70’s, when bitmapped screens were first developed with GUI’s, the humble icon has come a long way. The following is a collection of icon design in OS’s through history. Film on paper There are few film poster artists as prolific as Italian-born Renato Casaro whose work featured on thousands of posters advertising films around the globe for over 40 years. From his beginnings as a cinema-obsessed youth in Treviso, northern Italy, Renato forged a career that saw him join the famous Studio Favalli in Rome aged 19 before becoming a freelance artist and designer just over a year later. By the time of his retirement at the end of the millennium he had worked on memorable posters for some of the biggest films of the past 50 years whilst forming close friendships with the likes of Dino De Laurentiis, Sergio Leone and Bernardo Bertolucci. For many years Renato was the go-to artist for both Italian and German distributors wanting to release their films with a striking poster design. Renato Casaro stands next to his latest wildlife painting inside his home studio near Marbella, Spain.

The Hut of Sleds - holiday house by Crosson Clarke Carnachan Integrated into the landscape, amid the white sand dunes, in the Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand, there is “The Hut on Sleds“, a house for a family with 5 members. Designed by Crosson Clarke Carnachan, the hut measures just 40 square meters and is mounted on two solid wooden sleds that enable it to be moved closer or further away from the beach. This innovative portability is a response to the ever changing landscape due to the coastal erosion. In the hut, the ingenuity is present again, no corner being overlooked. Each available space has been used, everything is simple and functional. Clever and Creative Bench Advertisements Creative uses of benches in advertising campaigns by various companies.
