Many of you who know me personally, have been reading this blog or one my previous blogs or have been following me on Twitter for a while, know I’m a self-taught web-designer. I didn’t study design, arts, coding or whatever, and I never attended CSS 101 in college. Instead, I read blogs, tutorials and books. Becoming a web-designer can be quite a time-consuming process so I figured I’d make a list of all the RSS feeds I am subscribed to and read on a regular basis. The sites on this list are all related to web design, graphic design, development, CSS, HTML, WordPress, business and freelancing, creativity and inspiration.

Since my last guest post here, there were a lot of events filled with infographics that could be the focus of this month’s mega-selection. The terrible earthquake in Japan and the nuclear threat that followed, the escalation of the military operations in Libya, Apple’s anniversary, the new chapters of the Browser Wars, and that’s just to mention a few. However, despite so many possible subjects, I decided to dedicate today’s roundup to mankind’s ultimate frontier: Space. A picture is worth a thousand words. But when that picture is itself made of words, your mileage may vary. Take the case of type-based infographics. Bad use of type clutters an image; it acts as decoration – yet becomes a roadblock to information transfer. However, good use of type can add an extra layer of data to a graphic. Text and type within an infographic can be used to place high-density packets of information within a larger context.
