Takashi Murakami x Christie’s New York: A New Day – Artists for Japan Takashi Murakami and Christie’s New York are teaming up to hold a forthcoming art auction with a special section dedicated to provide support for the victims of the March 11 Tohoku-Pacific earthquake in Japan. “A New Day – Artists for Japan” is expected to reach $5 million USD, and will be donated to the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, Global Giving and International Medical Corps. Effects of the unfortunate natural disasters continue to take their toll and these organizations seek to provide relief and support to survivors. The auction will include works from some of the most well-known names in contemporary, all personally selected by Murakami himself. Included are a handful of pieces from such artists as Yoshitomo Nara, KAWS, Aya Takano, Damien Hirst and of course, Takashi Murakami, amongst others.
