CEOP is a law enforcement agency that works nationally and internationally with a clear focus on pursuing offenders and protecting children from sexual abuse. CEOP works in collaboration with a number of organisations to help them develop and deliver child protection policies, as well as providing advice and guidance on how to make their online environments safer for young people. The Centre also works with key technology organisations to share knowledge on themes and trends, allowing for a joined up approach to making the internet safer for young people. Helpline Do you have a cyberbullying or digital safety concern? The Safer Internet Centre has been co-funded by the European Commission to provide a Helpline for professionals working with children and young people in the UK with any online safety issues they may face themselves or with children in their care. We provide support with all aspects of digital and online issues such as those which occur on social networking sites, cyber-bullying, sexting, online gaming and child protection online. The Helpline aims to resolve issues professionals face about themselves, such as protecting professional identity and reputation, as well as young people in relation to online safety. Where possible, queries will be responded to within 3 hours (during the office opening hours). We work directly with a number of industry partners to resolve more complex issues and these may take longer to fully resolve. We are open Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm. CYBER LAW Liability of Cyber Cafe Operators | Law Teacher Various risks are inherent in the role of a Cyber Cafe operator. However, considering their importance in this cyber age, it is imperative that their business must go on. There have been various cases in India where cyber cafe owners have been put behind bars for the misuse of their computer systems by their customers, when we kept wondering why the innocent cyber cafe owner was being made liable for the offence committed by his customers. Cyber cafes have always acted as an easy medium for the commission of illegal activities in cyberspace and Cyber Cafe operators have many times been implicated for the acts of their customers. In the first week of January, 2009, several mails were sent to some of the IT companies of Bangalore, from a Cyber Cafe, threatening terrorist attacks. The issue of liability of Cyber Cafe operators has gained importance with the increase in offences being committed using them as a medium. It may also be defined as The intermediary shall observe “Due Diligence”.
Windows 8 users supplementing Windows Defender with dedicated antivirus software Microsoft’s integration of Windows Defender into Windows 8 seems to have little effect on the desire of users to install standalone security software, new figures from security management firm OPSWAT have shown. After crunching data gathered from 4,000 systems running its Security Score and GEARS Cloud monitoring software, OPSWAT found that 65 percent of the Windows 8 element of this sample (21 percent) were running a second antivirus product offering realtime protection in addition to Defender. By comparison, the figures for XP were 9 percent, and Vista and Windows 7 around 20 percent, which is to say that OPSWAT at least detected some element of a second product on these systems even if it was not running. What it does suggest is that the arrival of integrated antivirus protection hasn't harmed the market for third-party products as much as some feared. The figures back up an earlier cut on the data offered by OPSWAT in August that noticed the trend to supplement Windows 8's security.
