How Campaign Ground Games Have Been Revolutionized This year’s Presidential election looks set to be, by a long shot, the most expensive ever. The Romney and Obama campaigns (and their allies) have already spent more than four hundred million dollars on television ads, and are expected to shell out six hundred million more in the next seven weeks. But the most important struggle between the campaigns is taking place elsewhere: in the hands-on, door-to-door fight for votes, called the “ground game.” And, as Sasha Issenberg shows in his enlightening new book, “The Victory Lab,” the ground game has been revolutionized in recent years by technological innovation and clever experimentation, to the point where it may well have a bigger impact on Election Day than all those millions in ads. Even in today’s money-soaked politics, all campaigns have limited resources of money, time, and manpower. Campaigns fail if they waste resources courting voters who are unpersuadable or already persuaded.

Santa Claus Joke By: Hani@hyperion.demon.co.uk ("H. Abu Rahmeh") 1) No known species of reindeer can fly. BUT there are 300,000 species of living organisms yet to be classified, and while most of these are insects and germs, this does not COMPLETELY rule out flying reindeer which only Santa has ever seen. 2) There are 2 billion children (persons under 18) in the world. 3) Santa has 31 hours of Christmas to work with, thanks to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth, assuming he travels east to west (which seemes logical). This means that Santa's sleigh is moving at 650 miles per second, 3,000 times the speed of sound. 4) The payload on the sleigh adds another interesting element. 5) 353,000 tons travelling at 650 miles per second creates enormous air resistance - this will heat the reindeer up in the same fashion as spacecrafts re-entering the earth's atmosphere. In conclusion: If Santa ever DID deliver presents on Christmas Eve, he's dead now.

What differentiates Europeans from Americans (Europe and USA) | ReasonPad The cultural gap across the Atlantic The Western world (i.e. Europe, the Americas, Australia and New Zealand) could be considered as a single “Western civilisation”. ‘Westernness’ could be defined by people who are ethnically or culturally European, in other words people of European descent or speaking a European language as their mother-tongue. Europe itself has the greatest linguistic and cultural diversity of the Western world. Here is a summary of my observations on the differences between Europeans and Americans (USA). Feeling of time & distances Perception is shaped by our environment. Things are reversed when it comes to distances. Cars Almost all Europeans have cars with manual gears, while Americans have a marked preference for automatic ones. European cars are also very different in style than their American counterparts. Washing machines Measure System All Europeans use the metric system (metres, grammes, litres, Celsius, etc.). Date and time system Public holidays Social customs Food

Buddhism and the God-idea Do Buddhists believe in a god? No, we do not. There are several reasons for this. The Buddha, like modern sociologists and psychologists, believed that religious ideas and especially the god idea have their origins in fear. The Buddha says: Gripped by fear people go to sacred mountains, sacred groves, sacred trees and shrines. Primitive humans found selves in a dangerous and hostile world, the fear of wild animals, of not being able to find enough food, of injury or disease, and of natural phenomena like thunder, lightning and volcanoes were constantly with them. The second reason the Buddha did not believe in a god is because there does not seem to be any evidence to support this idea. The third reason the Buddha did not believe in a god is that the belief is not necessary. But if there are no gods how did the universe get here? All religions have myths and stories which attempt to answer this question. What does the Buddha say about the origin of the universe? Not so.

11 Of The Laziest Things People Have Ever Confessed To Sometimes we do, or in this case, don’t do certain things that make no sense. Why? Because, we just get into these dumb moods called laziness. While laziness can feel so good, it can also have the ability to do no good. 27 Science Fictions That Became Science Facts In 2012 We may never have our flying cars, but the future is here. From creating fully functioning artificial leaves to hacking the human brain, science made a lot of breakthroughs this year. 1. Quadriplegic Uses Her Mind to Control Her Robotic Arm At the University of Pittsburgh, the neurobiology department worked with 52-year-old Jan Scheuermann over the course of 13 weeks to create a robotic arm controlled only by the power of Scheuermann’s mind. The team implanted her with two 96-channel intracortical microelectrodes. 2. Once the robot figures out how to do that without all the wires, humanity is doomed. 3. Using an electron microscope, Enzo di Fabrizio and his team at the Italian Institute of Technology in Genoa snapped the first photos of the famous double helix.Source: newscientist.com / via: davi296 5. 6. 7. 8. 10.

World debt comparison: The global debt clock Sleepy-Time Smoothie My husband woke up coughing and a little feverish this morning. UGH... a darn COLD! I knew I'd need to set aside my chores and make the long drive to town to buy him some Nyquil. Seriously.... this Mint-Chocolate Smoothie tastes almost as good as it looks. I would also like to add that my husband now thinks I'm an angel disguised as his wife. Disclaimer: Use Nyquil ONLY as directed on the bottle. Ingredients: 1 Tablespoon/ Dose Cup of Nyquil 1 piece Spearmint Candy 2 Tablespoon Water Vanilla Ice Cream Cool Whip frozen topping Chocolate sauce 1 Strawberry Microwave the Spearmint candy and water until the candy is melted. Add the Nyquil, stir it well and put the liquid in the freezer. Take the chilled Nyquil liquid from the freezer and add 2 or 3 BIG scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream and blend quickly with a fork or whisk. Pour the Sleepy-time (rest-and-get-a-good-nights'-sleep) Smoothie into a Ice cold Glass. Top with a dollop of Cool Whip and drizzle generously with chocolate sauce.
