If you haven’t yet taken a peek at the new Dark Fairytale series, you’re in for a treat! Urban Threadsters in particular seem to love their myth, lore, and legend, and also seem to share a love of books. And who doesn’t love books? Though, I will be honest, every time I go into a used bookstore I’m secretly hoping to come across a copy of the Necronomicon with an old, tattered leather cover with intricate engravings and spooky designs. Part of the beauty in some books is simply how they look, and if we can’t find them that way, we’ll make 'em!

Hydrangea Girl: After and before - Deceptive dust covers This isn't a new project to me. I first came up with this deceptive dust cover idea close to seven years ago when I lived with my folks: I had a shelf in my bedroom holding everything I held dear. I am a neat freak and color coordination is paramount, so some of those things I held dear weren't exactly, how do I say, appealing to my corneas. I created faux dust covers to cover up unsightly books and cd's that I loved. I'd like to say I don't judge a book by its cover, but if it's too bright for my living room I will hide it behind other books. Dark moody colors appeal to me more than bright ones - to each his own. What you'll need : enough heavy weighted craft paper {one up from construction paper} to cover your book{s}, ruler, scissors, pencil and eraser, thin gold pen, gold marker, and some form of adhesive - this is only used for adding another layer of paper to your cover - NOT to glue the dust cover to your book. Step 4 : fold the construction paper template around the book cover.

8 Bookmark Ideas bookmarks | 26 comments I don’t really use real bookmarks. I’m not sure why. They’re not expensive, or hard to make, but I tend to just pick up whatever to mark my pages. Old receipts, scraps of paper, a pencil, etc. But I don’t ever dog ear my pages. (For those curious, I finished A Million Suns a couple days later and really enjoyed it! I’ve been eye-ing lots of super cute DIY bookmarks for the last few months that I’ve seen pop up around the web. The problem is, often my bookmarks fall out and I lose my page. I’m definitely going to keep these in mind for future gift giving opportunities after I’ve made a couple for our use at home. 8 Cute DIY Bookmark Ideas Bow Tie Paper Clips Using Fabric Scraps from How About Orange. You can make these and use them in hair, on jewelry, on clothing, as embellishments on anything! And with The Ribbon Retreat’s large selection of Ric Rac, your possibilities are endless! – Supplies – Ric Rac (I used 3/4″) Hot Glue Accessory to attach it to The first thing to know about this Ric Rac Rose is that the wider the Ric Rac, the taller the rose. I started out by cutting two pieces of Ric Rac at 21 inches. I ended up using a bit less than 21 inches… probably 16 or 17 inches. Now we are going to “braid” the two pieces of Ric Rac together. Keep going until you get to the end. Take the end and curl the Ric Rac in. Continue rolling the Ric Rac. You can put a little hot glue on the sides as you are rolling it. Here is how the side looks. When you like the size of your rose, you can stop rolling. Now put some glue on the under side of the rose. Bring the Ric Rac under the rose and adhere it to the glue. It looks pretty, just like this!
