Yindesign's Blog My goals for this quarter As I didn’t have so much sketch training before, it is very necessary to take design communication class in Cincinnati. 1-Improve my sketch skill was my goal I gave to myself before I came here. 2-Redesign my portfolio in order to apply an awesome Co-Op. 3-Choosing a studio project, which in an area I have never tried before. 4-Learning design method they use here in DAAP 5-Explore the difference of American design and European design. 6-Try to learn more about American culture, also improving my English. 7-Learn Alia if I have time! Review. Review 1-It was the best decision I made in DAAP, taking Mike Roller’s class, I learned a lot in his Des communication Class, not only sketching skills, but also how to find my best way of communicate my design work. 2-My portfolio looks much better than before, and here in DAAP, I realize portfolio should be updated all the time. 5- Ok,American style! But that’s not enough! American design at least is not perfectionist.
The late show - Arts - Entertainment - smh.com.au If one had to choose a single indigenous artist to represent the state of Aboriginal art, it would be hard to go past Paddy Bedford, or Goowoomji as he is known among his own people. Born in 1922 or thereabouts, Bedford did not begin painting until 1998. His rise has been as meteoric as any contemporary Aboriginal painter, with the possible exception of Tommy Watson, who is slightly younger but began painting only in 2001. It is a commonplace that many of the best Aboriginal painters have been late starters, with a lifetime's experience behind them by the time they pick up the brush. Bedford was accustomed to the poverty and degradation of life before he attained a miraculous late celebrity as an artist. The looming crisis in the lucrative Aboriginal arts industry is the problem of succession. Who can blame them? And so it is that we celebrate the brief but spectacular careers of old men such as Paddy Bedford, who is frail and ill but still producing exceptional paintings.
