Creating an Interactive Portfolio with InDesign « « Layers Magazine Layers Magazine Up until now, whenever I’d mention creating an interactive document with InDesign, the first thing most people would think is, “He must be talking about making a PDF.” While you can certainly still make interactive PDFs from InDesign, you can do so much more using the InDesign CS5 interactive features. 1 CREATE A NEW WEB DOCUMENTWe’re pretty used to creating InDesign documents for print in standard sizes such as Letter and A4. In this case, however, we’re going to the Web, so it’s best to start out with a document size that makes sense for a computer display. Step 2 Reduce the saturation by going to Image>Adjustments>Vibrance. Step 3 Just to add a nice detail to the scene, let’s write something with a sans serif font. Font color is #56767d. Step 4 In order to merge the text with the background, grab the eraser tool, select a grunge brush and eliminate some parts of the text. Layer opacity is too high in my opinion. Step 5 At this point we can add the never-boring lens flare! Set the layer blending mode to screen to eliminate the black areas. Step 6 Step 7 Step 8 Step 9 Step 10 Step 11 Finito!
