Section Off The waterfall braid works best on straight or loose waves. Brush out all the knots with a wide tooth comb. Braid As Usual Braid your strands regularly three times, beginning from the right strand. Drop the Strand This is where it gets tricky. Step and Repeat Repeat this process—French braid the left strand, drop the right strand, and pick up an adjacent new piece. Pin and Secure Once you've reached a comfortable point to stop your braid, secure it to your scalp with bobby pins. Fishtail It! Braid the remaining piece of hair left from your cascade into a fishtail braid. Accessorize Add a cute bow or flower to hide your bobby pins and give this look some extra hair flair.

How To Style Maiden Braids Last month I did a makeover story with Kelsie and had many requests for a maiden braid tutorial. Yesterday she came in and we photographed these simple step by steps. Kelsie has extremely long and thick hair, but anyone with shoulder length or longer can do these braids (see my photo below for an example). Steps 1-2: Braid two strands on each side of a center part. Steps 3-5: Wrap braids around the crown of your head and pin in place with one pin each. Step 6: Arrange braids so that they cover the front of your head like a headband. Steps 7-8: Pull the rest of the hair into a ponytail and pin it into a cute messy bun. Step 9: Add final pins and spray.

Head Scarf Tutorial - StumbleUpon After many requests, I finally made a tutorial on how to tie a simple head scarf. It's really, really easy. I did this without looking in the mirror, so that should tell you how easy it is. Let's get started! Start with a large, square scarf. Fold one corner to the other to form a triangle. Fold the corner down to about the middle, and then fold over again (but not all the way to the edge, because you want it to be a little thicker). Put the scarf around your head with the ends in the front, making sure the wrong side of the scarf (the part where you can see the folds) is against your head. Tie it in a loose knot at the front. Tuck the ends behind/underneath the scarf. Done!

Land Girl Bandana Tutorial - or How To Cover Your Curlers - Alternatively Lovely - Rockalily Since writing this blog post, I have also made a video tutorial showing how to tie a bandana land girl style. This morning I posted a link to the Rockalily Facebook Page to show a photo of me (rather sleepily) wearing Rockalily Lipstick about to head out. Someone mentioned that they'd love to be able to wear a scarf in this style, so I said I would do a tutorial for them when I got home. Fast forward to the evening and here I am, doing a quick tutorial. I would describe the style as Land Girl inspired, vintage-esque and also Rockabilly I guess. Today I wore it this way as I have curlers in, but I also wear it in the more standard way too. So here is my attempt at a tutorial. Start with your bandana folded about three-quarters of the way in half. The folded side of the bandana is going to go along your neck, so the pointy bit comes over your forehead. You can see I still have my curlers in! Bring both of the ends together, making sure that middle point is underneath. Ta Dah!
