African Flower Hexagon Join-as-you-go Tutorial Today was a quiet day...we spent it at home, just pottering about. Gerry had to go and do rounds, and the kids did homework while I photographed the tutorial. It was a warm, sunny summers day here in SA, and the kids spent the afternoon swimming.... A visitor asked for a tutorial on how to join-as-you-go when you are crocheting African Flower Hexagons... here you are ....

Skip 2 stitches, then slip stitch into the next stitch.* CROCHETED ROPE BASKET I love having little baskets and containers around to keep things tidy, and have really been wanting to experiment with different materials to crochet with recently. This little basket is not only a perfect way to practice crocheting with rope, but also to hold little odds and ends! For this project I used a Size P crochet hook and one package of clothesline rope. This rope is nylon, but it would be fun to use cotton rope and experiment with dyeing it different colors! How cute would it be to dye the rope a few different colors and make a giant granny square rug?

wonderfuldiy There’s really no such thing as having too many baby blankets — something every parent would probably agree on! This is why one of the most amazing gifts any well-wisher can offer a baby or toddler of any age is a stunningly beautiful handmade baby blanket – a genuine one-of-a-kind never to be repeated. But while there are thousands of different ways a baby blanket can be crocheted … well, let’s just say we think we’ve found the pick of the bunch! What you’re looking at here is a wholly unique 6 petal puff flower baby blanket, which is less a useful accessory and more a work of art in its own right! Any parent in the world would be blown-away to receive one of these as a gift and any baby would be lucky to have one to snuggle up with.

Narcissus Lace Tunisian Stitch To make the Narcissus Lace Tunisian Stitch, you’ll need to get your long afghan hook and make a foundation chain with a multiple of 4 stitches. Step 1: Insert hook in 2nd chain from hook; yarn over, draw up a loop {Repeat Step 1 across row, keeping all loops on your hook.} Birdie Decoration This is my pattern/tutorial for a hanging Birdie Decoration. A completely useless object of course, but very cute all the same. It's an easy project to make, great for using up odds and ends of yarn and can be used in all sorts of ways to bring a little good cheer. This little birdie is made in four pieces :: a round flat circle for the body, a small triangle for the beak and 2 leafy shapes for the wings. There is also a hanging chain to make which you can decorate with flowers if you like, and the option of adding some dangly legs too.
