So the Stone Age gets 2 pages, the rest of pre-Medieval history - 22, and the Medieval period - 40. After that, the page spread is descent while the period lengths get shorter. It does have an index so you can find all the axe examples at one time, but the axe terminology, for example, is a bit limited. They do not discuss the difference between horns and beards, they show an axe with a 'wrap-around' or 'rounded' pole, but do not give the name for that type of pole. They mention that the Vikings had three types of axes, but name only one, the bearded axe, although to my understanding, they are showing a horned axe, not a bearded axe.
