Beautiful Lamborghini X Concept 3D render concept car btw, NOT PHOTOS (for those who think this is an actual car). On regards to the design, there are some really nice solutions. The edgy lines are cool, but not within the Lamborghini style, which, even though it always has a tendency for straight lines and sharp angles, doesn’t go all the way to sharp edges and paper thin panels. In general, this concept looks kinda frail, almost like a paper car. If I where a design exec at Lamborghini I would probably take it and find it’s good points to rescue and request modifications to some stuff, but then again, I’m not. soccer-city Villa Vals If you're in Switzerland and looking for a nice place to stay, Villa Vals might just be your thing. The holiday house is created by Bjarne Mastenbroek and Christian Müller, respectively of architectural offices SeARCH and CMA. To avoid disturbing nature the villa is totally integrated into the landscape and only the entrance is visible. The design is achieved by unfolding the packets and refolding them into hexagonal and pentagonal sections that are then pieced together to form a geodesic sphere or any other desired shape. Designer: Ed Chew iPhone: Forcing a UIView to reorientate In my current iPhone application I need to force a UIView to reorientate when a certain event happens. The SDK doesn't really allow for this to happen. There's the well-known UIViewController method - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation that is called whenever the user rotates the iPhone. The blind alley There are a number of blog posts, discussions, and Stack Overflow posts that suggest you use the private setOrientation: method of the UIDevice class. It's a private API. This seems the canonical version of that method: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarOrientation:UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft]; [[UIDevice currentDevice] setOrientation:UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft]; It serves to rotate the status bar, but leaves your UIView where it is. How to make it work Until Apple bless us with an official API for doing this, here's how I managed to achieve my goal... It's a bit unpleasant, but it works.
