A Computing curriculum Our Computing curriculum Following the disapplication of the ICT curriculum, we set about designing our Computing curriculum. Our work in developing a Computing Curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2, and an initial supporting resources: ‘A guide to teaching programming’ has since grown into a full programming and computer networks schemes of lessons, both of which can be purchased below. The schemes have already received fantastic feedback from teachers and ICT/Computing coordinators across the country who are combining them with their existing ICT provision to help ensure coverage of the new Computing curriculum. My Primary ICT Curriculum I've had a lot of requests recently from people asking me for copies of my long-term planning for ICT - possibly because the government has just announced that the current ICT National Curriculum for England has been disapplied from September 2012 as it has been deemed to be "not fit for purpose". My current ICT curriculum consists of three documents that I have written: objectives for each year group broken down into 'key ideas' and 'techniques' for seven different strands that I have divided the curriculum up into;a table for each year group detailing: each week of the year, the event/topic taking place then, my ICT lesson and the curriculum strand to which it is linked;a set of learning objectives and skills from which ICT lessons can be planned to ensure progression and provide for differentiated levels of success. Since we have a good window of time this semester, it will allow us 8 weeks to work on our original science unit, meeting the science standards and concluding with a student-selected scientific project. Unpacking the CC standard by standard Below you will find unpacking standards documents to support teachers in their understanding of the common core and essential standards. The unpacking documents demonstrate at a granular level the knowledge and skills students are expected to master at a particular grade. Important Note: The current Standard Course of Study will continue to be taught and tested during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 school years. New standards and assessments are to be implemented for the first time beginning with the 2012-13 school year.
