Skin Brightening Toner

I love everything skin and especially when it comes to making and trying new skin care recipes. A few weeks ago (after giving up with the toner I was currently using) tried a new toner recipe and since then have been, dare I say, in love with it. Ingredients: 1/2 Cup Lemon juice 1 Cup Water 2/3 Cup Witch hazel (can purchase at any drug store) Plastic bottle or jar Facial toner recipe for those with normal to dry skin. *For oily skin add 2 Tablespoons Alcohol* STEP ONE: Mix ingredients in a bottle or jar. STEP TWO: Cleanse skin with facial cleanser and rinse. STEP THREE: Apply toner with a cotton pad, sweep upward and outward over entire face and neck. STEP FOUR: Apply moisturizer. Benefits: Witch Hazel: Tightens pores and reduces inflammation. Lemon Juice: Reduce blemishes and lightens skin. Use facial toner both morning and night for a deeper cleanse, smaller pores and bright, radiant skin! *If you have any questions about toner or other skin care needs, please feel free to ask :)

Make Your Own Eye Makeup Remover and Reusable Pads. Quite awhile ago I wrote about making your own make up remover wipes. It was killing me to pay the high price of the ones sold in the stores. Lately, however, a couple of other things have been bothering me about the whole taking makeup off thing! First, since getting rid of paper towels in the kitchen…I feel a little hypocritical still using them in the bathroom. :-) Second, I feel like my face needs something richer, with more emollients, for taking off my makeup. So I spent much of today searching for and developing a slightly different make up removal system, that after using tonight I think I am going to like A LOT! PART ONE:First I made some REUSABLE make up remover pads similar to something I saw on The Sproutz Store Blog. PART TWO:Now I needed something to use ON the reusable pads. 1 cup distilled water1 1/2 Tablespoons baby shampoo (no tears)1 Tablespoon coconut oilA few drops of essential oil (optional) There it is….my new “make up removal system”.

Make my Week #23 - sweatshirt restyle like my new mustard blazer? here is what it used to look like: an XL men's sweatshirt (who had the good fortune of being a delightful colour!) gather here, snip there... surprisingly it worked, is comfy, and i have worn it lots! 5 Reasons To Drink Lemon Water In The Morning Number 1 It balances pH--Lemon is an acidic food, but once metabolized, it becomes alkaline. I work very hard at keeping my body alkaline. Why? To put it most simply, alkalies help keep the oxygen in our blood at a safe pH level, and this helps our body heal itself, assimilate nutrients and fight off unwanted sickness. I have read of many people who have fought their cancer nutritionally by focusing on the body's pH levels. I regularly check the pH of my body using these little pH strips. Number 2 It keeps skin clear and glowing! Number 3 It kick starts the digestive system--a big glass of lemon water is a great way to start the day. Number 4 It helps with weight loss--I have read that keeping the body in an alkaline state helps people lose weight faster. Number 5 It helps control the coffee habit--I will drink coffee sometimes, but only if I have had my entire glass of lemon water. ...which brings me to bonus Number 6: My mom gave me this antique lemon press. So easy fun and easy to use!

Weekend Project #1 - Terrariums for Pinterest Challenge I love projects and Pinterest so when Sherry over at Young House Love posed the 2nd Pinterest Challenge I had the perfect pins in mind. Dylan got me these great fish bowl bookends two birthdays ago and we've had little success keeping any kind of fish alive in them. (R.I.P Goldfish 1, Goldfish 2, Goldfish 3, Goldfish 4, Betta 1 and Betta 2 - you were doomed from the start without names.) Supplies - Glass fish bowl bookends, tiny succulents, Cactus/Succulent potting soil, decorative stones, and a spoon. Completed succulent terrariums: I think my favorite part about this project was realizing that this was the perfect place to display the stones we have brought back from Iceland, Lake Superior and Italy.

Baby Shower Gift :: Homemade Sugar Scrub in Decorated Jars I wrote the other day about a project I was really excited about but needed to finish up, and here it is! These were gifts for a triple baby shower (not triplets, but three lovely ladies all due within a few weeks of each other, although triplets would be exciting) that I attended yesterday. All three babies-to-be got sweet goodies from my shop (a bear hat for the little boy and button beanies for the girls) but I wanted to do something for the moms, too. It's so fun to open presents for your little nugget, but poor pregnant mom is the one doing all the hard work, and she deserves something, too! Mamas need some pampering, right? How true it is. And want to know the best part of this gift? (Don't tell my friends.) And I had enough sugar scrub left over to keep for little ol' me, so I can tell you, this stuff is goooooooooooood. And how much cuter would these be if you're a lucky duck who owns a Silhouette or Cricut (or even just cute punches) and could cut fun shapes for the labels? Done!

DIY: Necklace Holder I found this genius idea to get my necklaces organized from and I thought I'd give it a go. 1. You will need a flat board to attach your knobs unto. You can be creative with this. For my board I'm using a piece of driftwood that I found at this beach on this trip. I got 4 out of my 5 knobs from our local habitat for humanity store for less than $1.00. 2. 3. 4. and now my necklaces are officially organized! See how I organized my earrings here. xo Homemade "Vicks Vapor shower disks" Have you seen the commercials for the Vicks Vapor shower disk thingies? You put one of these disks in your shower, and voila thanks to the vapors in it, you're magically healed, your cold is gone, and your face is shockingly free of snot. I always used to watch the "Noxema girl" splashing water on her face and wondered how she was able to wash her face without being completely overrun with boogers. I'm the only one? Yes? Regardless, Vicks makes these things and I'm sure they're super expensive for something that is just going to wash down your drain. You know where I'm going with this, right? Yep. I made them myself. The idea started a few weeks ago when my sweet little nephew Parker came down with Croup for like the 1,438th time. And they couldn't be any simpler. Sarah's Homemade Vicks Shower Disk Thingies -Baking soda -Water -Essential oils: eucalyptus, rosemary, and lavender. 1) Add baking soda to a mixing bowl. 2) Slowly add water until you've made a thick paste.
