Quadcopter Build for Noobs All - I have been following various threads on here for the last month or so and have been inspired to attempt my first RC build, a quadcopter. I will attempt to catalog the build as I go so that other inexperienced builders will have something to reference. Before I get started, many thanks to Old Man Mike (OMM), S11D336B, Signguy, Reverendrichie, Jesolins, and others for their informative threads and builds. A quadrotor, also called a quadrotor helicopter, is an aircraft that is lifted and propelled by four rotors. Many resources are available to prospective quadcopter builders. Best Quadcopter Motors : Choosing RC Quadcopter or Multicopter Motors Made Easy ... It is best to choose motors that can rotate both clockwise and counter clockwise. Quadcopters have 4 motors – and for the highest stability, two of these rotate clockwise while the other two rotate counter clockwise. You can buy motors that are either clockwise or anti clockwise only, but that would make the craft a lot harder to fly. Sure, there are algorithms that can take care of the resulting instability for you, but these would be really hard to keep in the air if you are relatively inexperienced and choose to fly in the manual mode. You would need to have some understanding of what pole count of a motor is, but you would not want to fuss about this. A motor with a higher pole count requires more voltage and produces more torque – or lift. A motor with a lower pole count has more rpm and requires less voltage, but the corresponding output torque – or lifting power – is also lower. This is a critical number you would need to pay attention to.

Had 6 flights so far with /- 4 minutes and will try 4000mah later. 1 hard landing but the ply wood frame construction can handle it easily. Will post a vid later :-)
