My search was not particularly fruitful (if you have better luck, let me know) and only came up with a 'low-quality' (3 Mega Pixel) Ricoh with an add in Compact Flash GPS that sticks somewhat awkwardly out of the bottom of the Camera, a similar Pentax and a handful of Nikon 'high-end' digial SLRs. Canon EOS Canon EOS (Electro-Optical System) is an autofocus single-lens reflex camera (SLR) camera series produced by Canon Inc.. Introduced in 1987 with the Canon EOS 650, all EOS cameras utilized 35 mm film until October of 1996 when the EOS IX was released using the new and short-lived APS (Advantix/IX) film. In 2000, the D30 was announced, as the first digital SLR designed and produced entirely by Canon. Since 2005, all newly announced EOS cameras have utilized digital image sensors rather than film. The EOS line is still in production as Canon's current digital SLR (DSLR) range, and, with the 2012 introduction of the Canon EOS M, Canon's mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera (MILC) system. It competes primarily with the Nikon F series and its successors, as well as autofocus SLR systems from Olympus Corporation, Pentax, Sony/Minolta, and Panasonic/Leica. Converting a Digital Color Photo into Black and White Converting a digital color photo into black and white goes beyond simply desaturating the colors, and can be made to mimic any of a wide range of looks created by using color filters in black and white film photography. Conversion which does not take into account an image's color and subject of interest can dilute the artistic message, and may create an image which appears washed out or lacks tonal range. This section provides a background on using color filters, and outlines several different black and white conversion techniques — comparing each in terms of their flexibility and ease of use. Contrary to what one might initially assume, traditional black and white photographers actually have to be quite attentive to the type and distribution of color in their subject. Color filters are often used in front of the lens to selectively block some colors while passing others (similar to how color filters are used for each pixel in a digital camera's bayer array).

(Version 2.2, which adds support for several new models thus bringing the total to more than 60 cameras, was released in late April.) Camera Raw goes to work as soon as you point Photoshop's File Browser at a folder full of raw files, building previews and thumbnails, and reading image metadata. It also kicks in when you open a raw image -- the Camera Raw dialog box appears automatically. Each camera vendor uses its own proprietary format for raw images, and supplies software for processing them, but in my experience, the vendor-supplied solutions leave a lot to be desired in terms of speed and stability. But one of the frequent knocks I hear about Camera Raw is its inability to make use of custom camera color profiles, thus ensuring more-consistent color results from the camera. Why two profiles?

The K10D isn’t however without its faults. Compared to Nikon D80 Arguably the biggest rival for the K10D is the Nikon D80. But in our view, the D80 simply out-performs the K10D in day-to-day use. Compared to Nikon D200 Sporting environmental sealing and sophisticated RAW options, the K10D often finds itself compared against semi-pro models like the Nikon D200. The D200 is tougher and quicker while boasting many unique features of its own along with the benefit of superior metering. Compared to Canon EOS 30D Canon’s mid-range DSLR is an interesting rival for the K10D, and like the D80, it initially appears to come-off badly in terms of features.
