All sizes | Bluebonnets and a Spring Storm 20 Captivating Photos Shot At Exactly The Right Moment There are some things in life that make me feel dated (notice I didn’t use the word “old” LOL). For example, sending a fax, writing in cursive (with a pen) and talking on any phone with a cord (and twirling it around my fingers) are all things that kids born in 2011 might never have the opportunity to experience. I remember back in the days when people would say, “I wish I had my camera with me today, I could have taken some great pictures.” The photography we see these days is phenomenal. Sometimes “at the right moment” photography is achieved with high-speed photography, and sometimes it is achieved from just being in the right place at the right time.

People of the Rainbow Gathering Ever hear about Rainbow Gatherings? They're temporary community events typically held in outdoor settings; a place where people practice ideals like peace, love and harmony. The original Rainbow Gathering was in 1972 and was started as an alternative to mainstream popular culture. In the United States, the annual event is held on National Forest land from July 1 through 7. The highlight is when everyone gathers together in a large circle, and each person prays silently for peace. After going to Rainbow Gatherings for several years, self-taught Canadian photographer and art director Benoit Paillé got permission to take portraits of his "brothers and sisters." "The pictures you see are very precious since photography is not usually allowed during the event," he says. Over the last three years, Paillé captured these moments at Rainbow Gatherings across Spain, Canada, and Mexico. Benoit Paillé on: Flickr, deviantART, Behance

Rashad Alakbarov Paints with Shadows and Light « Cat in water Artist Rashad Alakbarov from Azerbaijan uses suspended translucent objects and other found materials to create light and shadow paintings on walls. The best part is that you can easily create something similar at home – all you need is one or two lamps and some items from your desk. The stunning light painting below, made with an array of colored airplanes has found its way to exhibitions like the Fly to Baku at De Pury Gallery in London. Rashad adds, “Above the cloud with its shadow is the star with its light. Comments comments

Gorgeous Bird Paintings by Adam S. Doyle Artist Adam S. Doyle who recently relocated to Hong Kong creates beautiful gestural paintings of birds, where the seemingly incomplete brushstrokes form the feathers and other details of the animal. In some strange way it reminds me of the story of the Renaissance painter Giotto who is rumored to have been able to draw a perfect circle without the aid of a compass, as if Doyle just picks up a dripping paint brush and in a few seconds paints a perfect bird. In reality his work demonstrates a profound control of the paintbrush and careful understanding of the mediums he works with. Yes, what you see is what it appears to be—strokes of paint. Doyle most recently had a show at Skylight Gallery in 2011 and is now currently working on a new body of work in Hong Kong.
