5 Content Curation Sites for Data Visualization Jon Salm published on July 11, 2014 in Design Infographics, data visualizations, and interactive visual projects are popular for a reason. They capture imaginations, command attention, and teach new things. Above all, however, they are simply fun to look at. These are the most powerful passports in the world and the most useless ones that constrict travel When it comes to passports, turns out all humans aren’t born free and equal. A passport is normally seen as a universal tool of freedom—but that convention isn’t exactly true. Earlier this year, The Visa Restrictions Index by Henley and Partners ranked the world’s passports from the most powerful to the most constricting. Travel visas are used as methods for controlling the movement of humans across national borders for reasons of security and immigration control. But while visas can play important roles in maintaining the sovereignty of a nation, they can also have equally powerful effects on the autonomy of an individual.
Hello World! or: How I Learned to Stop Listening and Love the Noise Hello World! is a large-scale audio visual installation comprised of thousands of unique video diaries gathered from the internet. This is what a gallery full of 24 hours worth of Flickr photos looks like Erik Kessels is best known for his running series of books In Almost Every Picture in which he collects found amateur photography, creating unique, and often bizarre collections, to be published in one book. His latest project. an installation on display at Foam in Amsterdam, gives visitors the opportunity to grasp the immense scale of just how many photos are shared on just one site, in this case Flickr, on a daily basis. The installation consists of rooms filled with all of the printed photos uploaded to Flickr in a 24 hour period, which translates into over one million photos. The mountain of photos, even seen in a photograph, is a great reminder of the volume of information and data that is being shared on the Internet every day. We know that there are over 6 billion photos on Flickr at the moment, and to make matters even more mindboggling, that exact same number of photos are uploaded to Facebook every 2 months.
