Playing with Displace Filter in Photoshop I have been playing a lot with the Displace filter in Photoshop and I still get impressed with how powerful it is. Even though I have written some tutorials using it, I decided to try to recreate a different effect that I saw in one of the images submitted for the Daily Inspiration. It was a brick wall deformed like it was made of cloth. So in this tutorial, or a quick-tips I will show you how to create a curtain made of bricks or how to deform a brick wall as it was a curtain. To do that we wil use a few stock photos, layer adjustments and the Displace filter in Photoshop CS5. The technique is pretty simple and the tutorial won't take you more than 30 minutes to go through it. Step 1 Open Photoshop and create a new document. Step 2 Let's import another image, now of a girl opening the curtains. Step 3 With the Lasso Tool (L) or the Pen Tool (P) select the empty white. Step 5 Now select the hands/arms of the girl and the curtains. Step 6 Step 7 Go to Layer>Layer Mask>Hide Selection. Step 8

Ruby Programming Language How to Write a Custom Swing Component When you hear comparisons between AWT and Swing components, one of the first points mentioned is that Swing is lightweight. What this essentially means is that there are no real native controls "behind" Swing buttons, internal frames, and menus. Everything is controlled in pure Java, including rendering and event handling. While this provides a much more flexible way to create truly platform-independent components, the task of creating a custom Swing component that has a consistent look across all platforms and look-and-feels is not an easy one. Basic Building Blocks The Swing architecture overview provides an excellent high-level overview of the architectural decisions that were made during the development of Swing. The main building blocks of all core Swing components are: This article will illustrate the process of creating a custom component that is based on the new view slider from Microsoft Windows Vista OS Explorer (see Figure 1). JScience B-Trees Introduction Tree structures support various basic dynamic set operations including Search, Predecessor, Successor, Minimum, Maximum, Insert, and Delete in time proportional to the height of the tree. Ideally, a tree will be balanced and the height will be log n where n is the number of nodes in the tree. When working with large sets of data, it is often not possible or desirable to maintain the entire structure in primary storage (RAM). B-trees are balanced trees that are optimized for situations when part or all of the tree must be maintained in secondary storage such as a magnetic disk. The Structure of B-Trees Unlike a binary-tree, each node of a b-tree may have a variable number of keys and children. A b-tree has a minumum number of allowable children for each node known as the minimization factor. Since each node tends to have a large branching factor (a large number of children), it is typically neccessary to traverse relatively few nodes before locating the desired key. Examples

Also, don't try draggin him back in your house after he's dead.. The cops will be able to tell he was shot inside your house. As soon as you're involved in a shooting like this, call the cops, then a lawyer.. You are so bad ass. Seriously, you're advocating shooting a potential burglar with your "Mossy, Remy or Mr. We're not all in middle school, you know, and life is not like a Die Hard movie. I don't want to kill anyone. Unless you were a soldier or a police officer, you have probably not faced a life or death situation, and frankly, you are likely not equipped to fight back adequately.

PHP MySQL Web Development Security Tips – 14 tips you should know when developing with PHP and MySQL « Coding Recipes We are closing down our forums, it’s time to move on, but we are keeping some important threads, here is one… I read about many of these points in books and tutorials but I was rather lazy to think about many of them initially learned some of these lessons the hard way. Fortunately I didn’t lose any major data over security issues with PHP MySQL, but my suggestion to everyone who is new to PHP is to read these tips and apply them *before* you end up with a big mess. If you are expecting an integer call intval() (or use cast) or if you don’t expect a username to have a dash (-) in it, check it with strstr() and prompt the user that this username is not valid. Here is an example: $post_id = intval ( $_GET [ 'post_id' ] ) ; mysql_query ( "SELECT * FROM post WHERE id = $post_id " ) ; Now $post_id will be an integer for sure JavaScript validation is only good to reduce the server load. Use mysql_real_escape_string() to escape the user input. Then you can use it like this: deny from all Thanks!
