How to Be More Charismatic: 10 Tips

How to Be More Charismatic: 10 Tips
Some people instantly make us feel important. Some people instantly make us feel special. Some people light up a room just by walking in. We can't always define it, but some people have it: They're naturally charismatic. Unfortunately, natural charisma quickly loses its impact. But some people are remarkably charismatic: They build and maintain great relationships, consistently influence (in a good way) the people around them, consistently make people feel better about themselves--they're the kind of people everyone wants to be around...and wants to be. Fortunately we can, because being remarkably charismatic isn't about our level of success or our presentation skills or how we dress or the image we project--it's about what we do. Here are the 10 habits of remarkably charismatic people: 1. Ask questions. That's all it takes to show the other person they're important. Then when you do speak, don't offer advice unless you're asked. Don't believe me? 2. Because we do: We're all people. 3. 4. 5.

Save Us From Our Strengths - Tony Schwartz by Tony Schwartz | 8:00 AM September 20, 2012 Call me Scrooge, but when I hear the phrase “strengths-based” organization, I find myself cringing. The idea that organizations ought to focus on developing the strengths of their employees rather than trying to help them fix their weaknesses was introduced and popularized by the consulting firm Gallup. Much the same approach characterizes the fast-growing field of positive psychology. Don’t get bogged down in the depressing psychopathology of your childhood, the positive psychologists say, echoing Abe Maslow and the pioneers of humanistic psychology. These are sunny and appealing notions. The problem is that ignoring our weaknesses doesn’t make them go away, nor negate the toll they take on our effectiveness. The worst irony is that a strength overused eventually turns into a liability — as the researchers Robert E. So, too, for strengths. I know this all too well about myself. My challenge hasn’t been to be more direct with others.

Logical Fallacies and How to Spot Them Logical Fallacies and How to Spot Them In the Evolution vs. Creationism debate, it is important to be able to spot all the logical fallacies that Creationists tend to throw around. This essay covers many bare essentials of logical thinking, as well as ways to critically evaluate an argument. The logical fallacies listed here are the ones most often used by Creationists, although Creationists have, to date, used almost every single logical fallacy in existence to "prove" their case. Each fallacy will have its own little paragraph, describing it, why it is fallacious and how to counter it. THE STRAWMAN ATTACK: The strawman is, perhaps, the most heavily-employed tactic used by Creationists. "Evolution is a ridiculous theory! This is an example of a strawman attack. Spotting a strawman attack isn't that hard. Strawman attacks, once exposed for what they are, are not all that difficult to counter. THE FALSE DILEMMA FALLACY: The false dilemma is at the heart of the Creationist argument.

Famous Insults, Comebacks, Rejoinders and Repartee The HyperTexts Famous Insults, Comebacks, Rejoinders, Ripostes and Repartee compiled and edited by Michael R. The following insults and rejoinders (most of them in the form of short, hard-hitting epigrams—the literary equivalent of a stiff left jab followed by a right uppercut) are among the best in the English language, in the opinion of the editorial staff of The HyperTexts and other contributors. The Top Ten Insults of All Time If you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning. I never forget a face, but in your case I'll make an exception. There are many humorous things in the world; among them, the white man's notion that he is less savage than the other savages. And here's one I especially like, to be used when men's eyes wander inappropriately: Young man, if God had wanted you to see me that way, he would have put your eyes in your bellybutton. Here's one that insults male-ego-dominated Hollywood, in general:The actresses were just scenery. Bring 'em on! Dr.

- StumbleUpon In a world of constant changes, whether in our family or professional lives, everyone appreciates the salve of kindness. How can we find continued ways in which we can express and share kindness to better each others experiences? Being an interviewer at heart, I have found asking good questions will lead you to better answers. 1. How are you today? 2. Can I help you? 3. Where do you want support? 4. How can I see your perspective? 5. Can I see past the situation with love? 6. Where can I offer up generosity? 7. What door can we open to provide illumination? 8. Can I take that on for you? 9. How can I give the experience? 10. When is quiet peacefulness welcomed? 11. I serve myself while serving others 12. I can choose kindness when fondness is out of reach. Will we be willing to look at our behaviors in a honest way with kindness? Bashing ourselves usually is what keeps folks from wanting to be honest. Where will you play a role in using Kindness in your business as well as personal life? You ready?

Boring is Productive - Robert C. Pozen - HBS Faculty by Robert C. Pozen | 8:00 AM September 19, 2012 Whatever you think of his politics, you have to admit that Barack Obama has a very demanding schedule. The president’s typical day might include a ceremony celebrating Team USA’s Olympic athletes, meetings with his cabinet and military advisors, several speeches to campaign supporters, and phone calls with foreign leaders. In an article for October’s Vanity Fair, author Michael Lewis explored some of these behind-the-scenes details of President Obama’s daily life. There was one particular question that Lewis asked repeatedly of President Obama. The president first touted the necessity of daily exercise — a habit that I endorse wholeheartedly. I share President Obama’s practice of “routinizing the routine.” Why do President Obama and I subject ourselves to such boring routines? Making too many decisions about mundane details is a waste of a limited resource: your mental energy.

The lesson you never got taught in school: How to learn! | Neurobonkers A paper published in Psychological Science in the Public Interest evaluated ten techniques for improving learning, ranging from mnemonics to highlighting and came to some surprising conclusions. The report is quite a heavy document so I’ve summarised the techniques below based on the conclusions of the report regarding effectiveness of each technique. Be aware that everyone thinks they have their own style of learning (they don't, according to the latest research), and the evidence suggests that just because a technique works or does not work for other people does not necessarily mean it will or won’t work well for you.
