Frontier of Physics: Interactive Map “Ever since the dawn of civilization,” Stephen Hawking wrote in his international bestseller A Brief History of Time, “people have not been content to see events as unconnected and inexplicable. They have craved an understanding of the underlying order in the world.” In the quest for a unified, coherent description of all of nature — a “theory of everything” — physicists have unearthed the taproots linking ever more disparate phenomena.

But when the issue is your finances — and whether you've saved enough to last the rest of your life — excitement can quickly be overridden by anxiety. One of the first decisions retirees must make is how much of their savings to spend in the first years after leaving full-time work. And unfortunately for people now contemplating retirement, the math on tapping one's nest egg has rarely looked so daunting.

Visual Thinking Evolution A mind map is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks, or other items linked to and arranged around a central key word or idea. Especially in British English, the terms spidergram and spidergraph are more common,[1] but they can cause confusion with the term spider diagram used in mathematics and logic. Mind maps are used to generate, visualize, structure, and classify ideas, and as an aid to studying and organizing information, solving problems, making decisions, and writing. The elements of a given mind map are arranged intuitively according to the importance of the concepts, and are classified into groupings, branches, or areas, with the goal of representing semantic or other connections between portions of information.

this is the single best piece of software ever invented - even better than Evernote. It goes way beyond any mind mapping paradigms out there. by michaelcolantoni Nov 9

If there is any way to get Personal Brain on any mobile device, either Ipad or Android based phone, I am ready to buy it! Thank you to keep the community of users informed in case such an app would be available! by fgb Sep 5

I wish Personal Brain were iOS compatible to use on my devices. I have loaded over 100 apps (mostly some form of list) to research and none of them comes close to the usefulness of the Brain. I think some of the note taking apps come close, e.g., SpringPad until its social/community use updates, which I think ruined it but may make it more useful for team projects., Evernote, Licorize. Calendar Apps are good for some of the scheduling features. Cal Pad & its Lite version seem to be the most thorough for scheduling and project management but it cannot import my data set yet so I haven't really tried it. Please Post here again if you find something good! by mojojuju Jun 20

Thanks for this comment Mojo. Do you use any kind of PersonalBrain like apps on mobile device (iphone, android, etc.) ? by patrock1804 Jun 20

I have used the Brains software for about 6 years now. If you create a brain in the pc version, you can upload it to the web on the personal brain website. The company was working to make this an interactive version but I have not tried it. They are definitely computer application based and still learning the tricks to provide your content on the web. Mac versions have almost all the same capabilities as Windows versions. The features are just more difficult to access because of the lack of a context menu key on the mouse. You can personalize the command keys to suit your needs. This has been my workaround on Macs to utilize features I use frequently. by mojojuju Jun 20

Mirlen. You should download and install the free Windows version and stop using the Web one. This way you will not bother about Flash and/or Chrome. MindMaster is a mindmapping tool. PersonalBrain goes beyond this point by letting you dealing with networks of information, not just trees of information. by patrock1804 May 24

I'm not sure they give a choice . What I think I need is a web app though . I'm trying MindMeister and not having any problems . I think TheBrain issues are probably Flash and Chrome related I've had a lot of trouble with both . I know others that are having problems with Flash on a regular basis .I've ran hundreds of pieces of software I rarely have major issues . TheBrain works fine for a few minutes then refuses to save data . If you look at there issues section it is a tangled chaos of people with issues mostly unresolved .I was trying to have less issues not find something that brings on it's own . Someone said TheBrain 10 ! How did they get to 10 from 7 ! I think they skipped something , like 8 and 9 ? by mirlen101 May 24

Aggreed with you Georges. Do you still use PB on mac and Windows ? As far as I'm concerned I'm a Mac addict but find the Win version of PB more advanced than the Mac one. by patrock1804 May 24

Hi aladar. No I haven't try webbrain so far. I've just made some html export (galeries) of actuals brains. Actualy I'm more into a mobile version than a webie. Having a PersonalBrain like app on my iPhone would be great :-) by patrock1804 May 24

TheBrain has recently come out with a version 10 which still is more PC or Mac based, but they are becoming more Web savvy and friendly. I don't know why folks have problems with installs. I have used it on both PC and Mac in past all right. Now I use it on the Macintosh and have used the web gallery to show a couple maps as well. by georgebrett May 24

Do u know webbrain? Go and see here : u can create ur brain on ur pc or ur mac and synchronize with webbrain or work on ur web brain and its synchronize with ur brain. Try it and u will see Bye by aladarr May 24

Hi mirlen101. PersonalBrain is more a PC or MAC app than a webApp. I suggest you install the real App to test it. Not the webApp :-) by patrock1804 May 24

Reinstalled , turned off the virus scanner , turned off the firewall , turned off Chrome extensions . It worked for ten minutes then refused to save anymore links or anymore child sections .Basically becoming a useless paper weight ;-/ I also looked at the huge list of glitches that people have ran into . Most seem to have nothing in common . It's like anything that can go wrong has gone wrong with no apparent trend . by mirlen101 May 23

I'll try it again maybe the add-on extensions on Chrome are conflicting. I'll try turning them off .I really need a program like this ;-) by mirlen101 May 23

I've personally used personal Brain for over 5 years now and my one file is massive. I use it to store info I need to get to easily. All pdf files etc goes in there. Well just try it out and see. It is very efficient in making sense of a large amount of data. by natierau May 23

Tried it with Chrome almost got it to work ;-/ Started making a structure then add links. I got one in then it quite . Could add links or anything else ;-/ Looked like a good program but adding links is rather unintuitive . The tutorial didn't match the layout . Needs some work ! This is number 7 ! Maybe by number 10 it will actually work ! Too bad looked like they had a good start . Maybe if I reloaded the browser it might have worked . But why bother messing with something that quits on me 5 minutes after starting it ;-/ It's supposed to make life easier not give me more garbage to fix . by mirlen101 May 23

Among a lot of other tools, this one seems to be very good. i will check more carefully... by ocpourvoir May 23
