Wedding My youngest sister's wedding has come and gone. What a fun time we had planning and preparing. A shower, bachelorette party and a wedding. Here's a few pictures of the festivities and baking that was involved. Now that school is out for the summer I may have a few more hours in the week to dedicate to cookies. Beautiful shower centerpieces made by the grooms mother and sister. The bride and grandma. The bride, me, sister and mother at the wedding shower. Every place setting with a different old plate and a Michigan cookie. Married here, on Mt. Here comes the bride. My nephew enjoying a cookie. I did not make the pies, but I did make the Pie Cookies!! First dance Me giving my toast speech. Centerpieces. Wish I had more pictures, but I was so busy I just didn't have much time to take any.

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you are are getting ready for a wonderful Thanksgiving....full of family, friends and PIE! If you're in the mood to whip up some cookies to take to the feast, here's a simple idea for you. This turkey doesn't require a special cutter....it's a combination of a few shapes you probably have already...or can cut by hand. I used a flower cutter, a small circle, and hand-cut a small rectangle. This turkey shape idea came from Paper Glitter's free Thanksgiving printables. Make your cookies, break out the royal icing along with Americolor food colorings in Super Red, Orange, Chocolate Brown, Egg Yellow and Super Black. Happy Thanksgiving, you guys! Gobble, gobble!

Half Baked – The Cake Blog » DIY: Modern Christmas Cookies Callye of The Sweet Adventures of Sugarbelle is stopping by to share some of her cookie magic… For some reason, many people don’t think they are capable of decorating perfect sugar cookies. This is simply untrue. I call this the impression trick. When the cookies have cooled, use piping icing and a #2 or #3 tip to outline the tree design, and after a minute of two of drying, fill with matching flood icing. While the tree is still wet, drop colored dragees or pearl “ornaments” into the icing. Let them dry overnight, and you’ll have beautiful perfect cookies. Sometimes I’ll use a #1.5 tip to outline the tree or add a few more ornaments the next day. This technique works for MANY different cookie themes. If you have the cookie decorating bug, be sure to swing by my blog, The Sweet Adventures of Sugarbelle, where you’ll find all sorts of cookie how-to’s like the Chevron Patterned Cookies pictured above.
