I don't think that the The Death of Superman started the "death is meaningless" in comics. Like people said, Jean Grey had happened years before, and the trend of reviving long-dead Silver and Golden Age characters such as Barry Allen (died in 1985, resurrected in 2008), Hal Jordan (died in 1996, resurrected in 2006), Bucky (died in 1968, ressurected in 2005) and Jason Todd (Died in 1988, resurrected in 2005) is a 21st-century trend. What Death of Superman started, however, is the replacement of iconic heroes with more hip or edgy version: Thor got replaced by Thunderstrike, Captain America with U.S. Agent, Batman by Azrael, Spider-Man with Scarlet Spider, Iron Man with War Machine, etc.

Sesame Street's ravenous Cookie Monster is back in the limelight today after taking on Carly Rae Jepsen's catchy "Call Me Maybe" in fun spoof about his incessant cookie cravings. The "Share It Maybe" parody features new lyrics set to the beat of Jepsen's hit single and even mocks her and Jimmy Fallon's viral version from June. "Hey, me just met you, and this is crazy, but you got cookie so share it maybe," Cookie Monster belts in his low-pitched, gravelly voice. "It hard to look at, you snack maybe, but you got cookie so share it, baby."
