Happy Bread

Happy Bread
You have a masterpiece inside you, you know. One unlike any that has ever been created, or ever will be. If you go to your grave without painting your masterpiece, it will not get painted. No one else can paint it. Only you. ~ Gordon MacKenzie *Update*: I have made a video for this bread here! First of all, let me clarify that this bread is not a masterpiece that came out of my usual daydreams and doodles. It wasn't until my beautiful cousin, A, tweeted from Australia yesterday announcing that she had lost her bread virginity (by successfully producing her first crusty baby) that I remembered all about my Happy Bread. But wait, this was Google Translate, listing more than half the world's languages under its service (though you'd have to be a pretty good decipherer as well to use it). So this post had me rewriting the original instructions to something I would understand for future usage. If you can make cinnamon rolls, you can make this Happy Bread. ...and the zen-n-techy corner indoors.

Avocado Egg Salad Whether you serve this as a wrap, on whole-grain toast or in a lettuce cup, you will love this egg salad that uses half the yolks and lots of healthy fats from the avocado. I tried a Flat-Out for the first time after hearing your positive reviews about it and loved how easy it was to create a wrap. It tasted great too! If you're on a gluten free diet or looking to use less calories this is also wonderful in a lettuce wrap or why not a hollowed out tomato! Recipe: Banoffee "Danger" Pie Do not adjust your sets - you haven't tuned into the wrong blog. Its still culinarily challenged me but this pie was so amazingly delish I had to share it. We had a chance encounter with its gooey yumminess in Africa. Luckily the camp manager was nice enough to share the recipe. I've made a few slight adjustments to account for American markets. Meet Banoffe "Danger" Pie. Why "danger"? Still with me? 3 bananas 1 tin of sweetened condensed milk 2 cups whipping cream 1 package of digestive biscuits or graham crackers1 stick of butter 1 tsp vanilla 1 small bar of chocolate If you don't mind using store bought ingredients you can cut down a lot on the steps but since I was posting it I figured I would make a proper version entirely from scratch just for you. Your first step can be done way ahead of time (at least hours but can be as much as months before). After requisite time has passed, take pot off the stove and allow the can to cool. Grind up digestive cookies in food processor.

My closely guarded dinner roll recipe | is this REALLY my life? For quite a few years I have been making these homemade dinner rolls, and for quite a few years they’ve been one of the most requested recipes by family, extended family and friends. I’m sure even strangers would request them if they happened to stop by, knock on the door and ask if we had any freshly baked rolls in the house. We pretty much double fist them, especially if homemade jam is within reach. (Oh, and Steph? We need more jam.) Though not my original recipe, I’ve kept these homemade rolls a closely guarded secret. Oh, and these rolls freeze really, really well. Note: I make these as crescent rolls but you could just as easily to cloverleaf, knot or Parker House rolls. Em’s Famous Dinner Rolls 1/2 cup warm water 1/2 cup warm milk 1 egg, lightly beaten 1/3 cup butter, softened 1/3 cup sugar 1 tsp salt (I prefer Real Salt Fine Sea Salt) 3 3/4 cup unbleached all-purpose flour 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (or 1 .25-oz. package) 2 T butter, softened .. You'll like these too!

Comforting Homemade Soup Recipes Chilly fall mornings and cold winter evenings–nothing brings comforting warmth straight to the bones like a piping hot bowl of homemade soup. It’s also a great way to use up vegetables and leftover meat (and get the last bit of goodness from a turkey or chicken carcass, ham or beef bone and a smart way to take advantage of unappealing cuts of meat that are pennies per pound). You can make your own flavorful stocks using vegetable scraps (see this page for details) too. This Hit List features a nice ‘n hearty collection of recipes that I handpicked from around the net. *Ingredients listed are a sample only, not a complete list Bread & Tomato: Tuscan version made in just 20 minutes! Did you know: Most homemade soups taste BETTER the second day! Simmer slowly for hours rather than at a boil.

Quick French Bread I love fresh bread hot from the oven. However until I got this recipe from my friend Kim, I rarely made homemade bread because it just took too long. I didn't have the patience to wait for hours while it raised. The ingredients are basic and simple too. 2 1/2 Cups Warm Water 2 T. First: Add yeast and then sprinkle the sugar over the 2 1/2 cups of water. Next: Stir in the salt, oil, and flour. Then: Knead the dough for a few minutes until it is smooth and pulls away from the bowl like this... Then cover your bowl with a warm wet towel and let the dough sit for about 15 minutes. After 15 minutes the bread dough looks like this! Next, divide the dough into two long loaves (rolling like a jelly roll and tucking in the ends). Yum! {...and in real life it turned out a lot more brown than it shows in the picture below.} **Optional: For an extra cruchy crust, mix together one egg white with 1 T. cold water and brush on cooked bread and cook for another 3 minutes.
