Rookie & RIT Dye Tutorial It happens to me every year. The second spring hits, I’m standing in front of my closet going, I am so sick of all my clothes, if I see that shirt again I’ll throw up, but I don’t have any money for new stuff, I’M SO TIRED OF EVERYTHING I OWN. You know that feeling? Let’s kill it with instant-wardrobe-transformer (aka RIT dye). to these! And it’s not even hard. Now, there are other kinds of clothing dye out there, but I chose RIT because it’s got simple instructions on the back of the package, it costs about $3 per box, and you can find it almost everywhere in the U.S. I’m gonna show you how to do a basic stovetop dye job. But! OK! You will need: Something to dye: choose a white, off-white, or beige item of clothing made of natural fiber (cotton, wool, silk, linen), a blend of natural fibers (like a cotton/linen blend), nylon, or rayon. So now that we have our materials, let’s dye this elegant-yet-boring purse I found at a garage sale for a dollar! Step One: Fill your pot ¾ full with water.

DIY Découpage Floral Bag - Honestly WTF When H&M asked us to DIY a boho-inspired item for their summer issue, découpage was the first thing that came to mind. Honestly, does it get any better than customizing a simple handbag with a brilliant floral print? However you create it, it’ll be satisfying to know that you’ve designed yourself a one of a kind bag! You’ll need:a handbagcotton fabric with a large floral patternpainter’s tapeMod Podgecraft paint2 small plastic dishes2 brushesscissors Start by taping off the edges and hardware of the handbag. Squeeze a dollop of colored craft paint into a small disposable container. Allow the first layer to dry completely. While the paint dries, carefully cut out a handful of flowers from the fabric. Arrange them onto the painted section of the bag. Remove the painter’s tape when the Mod Podge has dried clear and your floral handbag is complete! (all images by HonestlyWTF)

Make your OWN eyeshadow primer! I have been using Urban Decay Primer Potion for years. I love the stuff. It is awesome. The problem is when I go to Sephora to get it, I get lost in a sea of sparkling new glosses and shadows and treasures I NEED to try, suddenly eyeshadow primer doesn’t seem very exciting. I start trying to rationalize. Together we set out to make our own! After much trial and error we finally found a potion that WORKS! Admittedly, Urban Decay is still the best, but as you can see, the difference is minimal. Get a clean container. Recipe/Formula (you can double or triple this based on the size of your container) 1/2 Teaspoon All Natural Chapstick 1 Teaspoon Cornstarch 1 1/2 Teaspoon Liquid Foundation (whatever you have on hand) Run the chapstick under warm water for a minute before you add it so it mixes easier. and you should look like this: Hallelujah!

Easy Envelope Clutch Tutorial When I go out on the town (two or three times a year) I always have to run to the closet to find a purse that's not a diaper bag. I usually grab what used to be my everyday purse, which is a black leather hobo by Fossil. It's a great purse, but it's just too big for a date night. You need: 1/2 yard of fabric for the outside of the bag (green in this tutorial)1/2 yard of fabric for the lining (umbrella print in this tutorial)1/2 yard of extra-firm stabilizer (I used Pellon 926)1 magnetic button claspthread Step 1: Cut your fabric, lining and stabilizer. Step 2: Before you do any sewing, you have to attach your snap closures. Step 3: Here is a Youtube video tutorial on how to install magnetic snaps. Step 4: Place your fabric and lining right sides together and stitch most of the way around your house shape with a half inch seam allowance. Step 5: Insert your stabilizer. Step 6: You're almost finished, my friend! Step 8: Hand stitch the lining closed.

Bow Belt We're always looking for fun ways to add embellishments and touches of color to our outfits especially in the winter when we tend to get bored with everything and anything. With bows being fiercely back in style, what better way than with a bright bow belt! You can pick any color for this but we'd recommend something solid and cotton. You'll need a simple snap as well to hand stitch on. The measurements for the three pieces you'll need to make are in the directions below. Measure your waist (over a thin shirt) and add 2 inches to that length. Making the belt: Fold in half the long way and sew along the long side. Fold over one open end and hand stitch one side of the snap into the inside. Flip right side out now. Once it's right side out, measure it around your waist. Now sew the second snap on through both pieces. Making the bow: For the bow cut a piece of fabric 6'' x 10''. Turn it inside out and move the seam to the middle. Sew the ends together as shown. Straighten and fluff your bow!
