Loose Leaf Tea? Make Your Own Tea Bags!

Loose Leaf Tea? Make Your Own Tea Bags!
Like many of you, I LOVE loose leaf tea. However, I'm always looking for cute and creative solutions to use my tea. These D.I.Y. tea bags are super cute. Supplies needed: Coffee filters, Scissors, Sewing machine, Loose tea leaves, Stapler, Embroidery thread, Paper for tags (construction paper, old book pages, etc.), Optional: Spices (pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, ground ginger, etc.) Step 1 - Cut two coffee filters into a rectangle. Step 2 - Stitch the filters together on three sides, leaving one of the smaller sides open. Step 3 - Fill the teabag with the loose tea leaves. Step 4 - Stitch the top of the tea bag closed. Step 5 - Fold down the corners, placing a 3-4in. piece of embroidery thread under one of the flaps. Step 6 - Fold the tip of the tea bag down, and use a stapler to hold it shut. Step 7 - Cut paper tags and glue, stitch, or staple them to the ends of your embroidery thread. To make your tea, let the tea bag steep in hot water for 3-5 minutes…and enjoy!

Practical Household Uses For SaltOne Good Thing by Jillee A couple of weeks ago I found this great pair of black Calvin Klein jeans at Costco that I have absolutely fallen in love with! They are, most importantly, COMFORTABLE, they fit great, are the right length (ie. long enough!), and they are a nice dark black color! For that reason I have been hesitant to wash them because the other day when I went to wipe some dog hair off my pants with a damp washcloth there was black dye on the washcloth! Since I was so impressed with many of these, I figured you would be too, so I decided to compile a list of my favorites to share with you. Starting with……..How To SET The Color In New Clothes and Towels. Salt is used commonly in the textile industry, but works at home too. In the Kitchen Prevent browning – Apples, pears and potatoes dropped in cold, lightly salted water as they are peeled will retain their color. Shelling nuts - Soak your nuts in salt brine overnight and they will crack out of their shells whole. Cleaning Health & Beauty Around The House

If you are like most adults it’s with a ‘Cup of Joe’. About 83 percent of adults drink coffee in the U.S., up from 78 percent in 2012, according to the National Coffee Association’s 2013 online survey. 1. The strong aroma may be endearing to many of us, but is a natural repellant for many insects such as ants, snails and slugs. 2. “Most store-bought wood stains contain harsh chemicals and produce terrible fumes, causing hazards for both the environment and the health of those using them. 3. By simply taking a mason jar, some ground coffee [to look like soil] and fresh cut flowers from the garden, you can create a beautiful flower vase that not only looks great, but smells great too! 4. Place old grounds in a mason jar and stick it in your fridge. 5. “Why should you exfoliate? 6. Make a homemade garden fertilizer by making a coffee ground “tea”. 7. Spread used coffee grounds around the base of your garden to prevent cats from digging. 8. 9. 10.

DIY Washi Tape Laptop Keyboard Look whose little old MacBook got a facelift this weekend! I spotted this idea from minifanfan on Making It Lovely last week and just had to give it my own spin. I purchased my Japanese washi tape from Le Box Boutique on Etsy. There are hundreds of washi tape sellers but I chose Le Box because they allow you to purchase tape by the foot rather than having to purchase the entire roll. They were very easy to interact with and I would definitely recommend them if you’re looking to purchase washi tape! I chose these ten patterns but only ended up using eight of them on my keyboard. I first thoroughly cleaned my keyboard with rubbing alcohol to remove any dirt or oil that might keep the tape from sticking. I originally wanted to do all the keys, including the small keys in the top row, but the tape seemed to have a harder time sticking to the small keys. This project was a bit tedious but simple – perfect for a few hours in front of the tv. What do you think? Tagged as: craft, diy, tutorial

Made with Snowflakes, frosting, and love– these DIY White Christmas jars will add that perfect glow, and warmth to your holiday gatherings. What better time of year is there than Christmas, to sit around with the friends and family and take that much-needed time to make crafts and share memories with one another? This beautiful frosted snowflake mason jar idea is something that will be cherished for years to come, and can be brought out year after year in memory of this upcoming holiday season. stamp tutorial (Hearts Afire, 12" x 12", hand-carved stamps on heavy watercolor paper, 2007) (This tutorial can also be purchased as an e-book from both Amazon.com and Barnes and Nobel.) Every artist needs primary source material. Primary source material is original images, sketches, drawings and photographs that the artist herself has generated without the aid of any outside sources. In other words, the shot you snapped of light reflecting off water, the sketch you made of your kitty, or the watercolor landscape you painted a few years ago is your primary source material. Finding PSM becomes challenging (and often disheartening) if you're an artist like me who doesn't draw. That very fact alone nearly stopped me dead in my tracks years ago, when the desire for making art began to bubble inside me in earnest. So how does an artist who can't, don't, or won't draw get original imagery into their art? Let's get to it. Corrugated Cardboard Stamps What You'll Do: To Clean: wipe gently with a damp cloth Voila!

How to tie various knots The sheet bend is used to tie two lines together. It is perhaps the most generally useful knot of all. When used to tie a line to itself, making a loop, it is called a bowline. The strain is taken on the ropes in the middle - not the one coming out the side. How the knot is made is not critical - it is the final shape that is important. One can make the flat loop first, and work the other rope around it. The two images show front and back views of the same knot Advantages:Easy to makeEasy to undo when tension is removedDoes not easily capsize Disadvantages:Hard to make under loadDangerous to make under heavy load Uses:Joining two equally-sized ropesExtending a towline or stern line Method 1: the same as a bowline Method 2: starting with the flat loop

Anthro Inspired Snow Globes! - All Things Heart and Home Aren’t these AH-dorable!? I mean…seriously cute. I saw these babies at Anthroplogie the other day and I kid you not, I stood there in front of the display in awe of how very happy something so simple could make me. Here are the Anthro Mason Jar Snow Globes! (The Anthro version: $25.00-$35.00!) Here’s my version! Simple, simple, simple. You don’t need a tutorial but I’ll tell ya how I did mine anyhoo… This is all you need: *Large size Ball Jars (I may start collecting old ones throughout the year to make more of these next Christmas-old jars would look soooo pretty!) *Fake snow! *Super Glue *Hot glue gun *Tiny “pretties”-snowy trees, itty bitty snow men, small ornaments… Take the top apart and glue your “pretties” to the inside of the lid! (I used hot glue to help with a few difficult little things!) Some of my tiny things were so small that I glued layers of cardboard on the bottoms to give them a lift! Once I started, I couldn’t stop! I love that memory, it’s so like Mama. And little snow men…
