Tools of Creation - Like many kids, my own children would spend endless hours with their Wii or their Nintendo DS systems. Unfortunately for my own children, they have mean parents who restrict their time, kick them outside to play (one of the advantages of living in a small town) and who won’t let them play World of Warcraft, Medal of Honour, (inset other random shoot ‘em up game). But, being a geek, I’m always interested in what they are playing, what’s hot, and what’s coming out. One thing that I’ve noticed more and more is that s lot of the games they buy are not only gaming platforms, but they can be used as engines of creation as well. This isn’t new. Christian, my ten year old this summer bought a game for his Nintendo DS that is called Warioware D.I.Y. Nintendo has also extended this out, allowing your Nintendo DS to connect with your Wii and with other players, allowing people to exchange games they have built and also to exchange their expertise, helping other players to finish their creations.

But once in a while you may manage to exhaust free disk space on a partition. If it's surrounded by another partition, you can either move it to another disk or to another area of the same disk that has free disk space around it, but that's easier said than done. While system administrators may take such problems in stride, for most desktop users this situation is like a punch in the face. The GParted-Clonezilla live CD is available as a 131.5MB minimal distro based on Gentoo-catalyst, and uses the Xorg X server, the lightweight Fluxbox window manager, and a modified 2.6-series Linux kernel. Many of the tools that are posted are very specific to Microsoft engineering— tools to help developers and testers better manage their project in our internal source control system, provide better visibility into our internal bug/issue tracking system, etc. Since these tools are very specific to the Microsoft environment, most of them don't get released externally. About eight months ago, I came across a tool in the repository called Remote Desktop Connection Manager ("RDCMan" for short) written by Julian Burger, one of our principal developers on the Windows Live Experiences team.
