If I had a monkey Disguised Monkey If I had a monkey, I would borrow my mums sewing machine and make my monkey a little monkey suit. Then if anyone said "Thats not a real monkey, it's just a monkey suit, I can see the zipper", I could say "I bet you fifty dollars it is a real monkey" and when they said "that seems like a reasonable bet, you are on", my monkey would take off the monkey suit and they would have to pay me fifty dollars.
C.C Earlier this year I was commissioned to create the film campaign for exciting Australian Horror/Thriller Lemon Tree Passage. In true horror fashion, one early morning I received a call that said I had 7 days to create the artwork. 7 days to cast, clothe & make up a group of disheveled teenage victims & shoot the several elements needed for the end composite, locate & shoot a beautiful vintage car with an inspiring dashboard, composite & retouch the whole artwork in both Quad, Onesheet & TwoSheet format, create the title designs, as well as 2 days of solid file transferring ready for Berlinale festival. A challenge? Definitely. awful client feedback In the spirit of Clients from Hell, several Irish creative companies joined forces on a series called “Sharp Suits”… Ad creatives, designers, animators, directors, illustrators and more took time out to dress up their favourite worst feedback from clients, transforming quotes that would normally give you a twitch, into a diverse collection of posters. As a non-designer, I think the popularity of mocking the people that keep designers employed is kind of petty and patronizing…but that doesn’t mean it isn’t funny.

Designcloud Spector by Fiana O’Leary As her graduation project from the Royal College of Art, designer Fiona O’Leary invented a device that scans and identifies typeface and colours — beaming the samples directly to a nearby computer or storing the information for later. While currently only a prototype, it’s clear that Spector could become wildly popular with graphic designers and typophiles. Wired referred to it as “Shazam for fonts” but also pointed out that one major obstacle in its development may lie in its ability to aid in design theft. Check out the video of it in action below. THE MADE SHOP And so the perception – on both sides of the Atlantic – takes hold that racism is not a system of discrimination planted by history, nourished by politics and nurtured by economics, in which some groups face endemic disadvantage – it’s about ignorant old people getting caught saying mean things. By privileging these episodes – outrageous as they are – racism is basically reduced to the level of a private, individual indiscretion made public. The scandal becomes not that racism exists but that anyone would be crass enough to articulate it so brazenly. The reality of modern racism is almost exactly the opposite: it’s the institutional marginalisation of groups performed with the utmost discretion and minimum of fuss by well-mannered and often well-intentioned people working in deeply flawed systems. According to a recent US department of education report, black preschoolers (mostly four-year-olds) are four times more likely to be suspended more than once than their white classmates.
