ArcGIS to 3d | Studio Smuts This tutorial was created to help our students circumnavigate the horror that is ESRI’s ArcMap software. The GIS data used in this tutorial (PLUTO NYC) can be found here: MapPLUTO: MapPLUTO Reference: Lets start by breaking down the number of steps we have to go through before we can export 3D data from this package. Open ArcMap Import a shape file containing the building footprints and building height metaData.Save the area that we want to extrude in 3D as a new shapefile. Step 1 Open ArcMap and begin a new blank project. Step 2 Next, you need to point to a .SHP file for ArcGIS. Click the “Add Folder” icon as shown below: Once you have “mapped” the folder you can then access it and choose your .SHP file. The city in the comics Architecture, contemporary cities and comics are three issues, declared from the outset with the title of the ehibition, that was curated along with Jean-Marc Thevenet. Going further into detail, can you explain what it talks about? The exhibition "Archi et BD: la ville dessinée" (at the Cité de l'Architecture up to the end of November) tells the story of cities as interpreted by the authors of comics and graphic novels. What were your objectives in setting up a show of this kind? Compared to the cartoonists, there are far fewer architects. Perhaps architects don't know enough about comics to use them? In the sense that, currently, comics take more from contemporary architecture than vice-versa, in the future could comics become to architects what cinema has been in the past? Are there architects who have chosen to use comics as a means of presenting their projects? What are the highlights of the exchange and encounters between architecture and comics?
