Rules for correct use of the apostrophe In UK and US English, the apostrophe is used: To indicate the possessive. To indicate missing letters. 1. This is Peter's book. Personal pronouns (words like I, you, he, she, it, we, they) indicate the possessive by becoming a whole new word. The house is yours. It's means it is or it has. 2. You can't have it. But we don't always use apostrophes: 15, Elm Rd. In the cases where you wouldn't use an apostrophe in the singular, don't use it for the plural: I had one photo. But we say this CD's broken because it's a short form of this CD is broken. 3. A few words are sufficiently confusing that we want to indicate to the reader how the word is constructed. He bcc'd a copy to all the managers. But you might consider: He sent a blind copy to all the managers Mind your ps and qs Dot your is and cross your ts A list of DOs and DON'Ts. There's no need for it in: She got three As in her exams. The apostrophe goes directly after the thing doing the possessing: The sun's rays = the rays of the sun.

Know the Answers to These Questions Before Your Job Interview @Adam: rrrr... last time I checked if you want to go work as a webdesigner in a webdesign company you still have to go in for a jobinterview @Adam: For web designers, the only things I really care about is samples and how long it takes them to complete a given piece of work. So if you mainly work on the web, make a webspace, showcasing all the work you have done with thumbnails linking to full size screenshots, and a link to the actual site as well. The reason for the screenshot, is in case the site disappears or they change their layout. Mention if you can make designs in html, asp, php, or which ever languages you can do, if it applies.
