Reading the Past Smart Bitches, Trashy Books - all of the romance, none of the bullshit The Thrilling Detective Web Site Detectives Beyond Borders Historical Tapestry: Into The Wilderness by Sara Donati It is December of 1792. Elizabeth Middleton leaves her comfortable English estate to join her family in a remote New York mountain village. It is a place unlike any she has ever experienced. When I first heard of Into The Wilderness I must confess I was a bit doubtful that it was the book for me. This is the story of Elizabeth Middleton who travels to the New World to meet her father and become a school teacher. But there's a lot more to like than just Elizabeth and Nathaniel's story. I think the best thing about the story is Donati's vivid descriptions and complex characters, you really feel transported to that world for the space of the reading and when it closes you really want to know what is going to happen next with the characters.
