HackerspaceWiki Hackerspaces are community-operated physical places, where people can meet and work on their projects. This website is for Anyone and Everyone who wants to share their hackerspace stories and questions with the global hackerspaces community. Regular Events Call-in - Call-ins provide an opportunity for existing hackerspaces to provide an update and highlight upcoming events, and new/planned hackerspaces can ask questions. First Sunday each month. Synchronous Hackathon - Hackerspaces worldwide use the internet to interact and hack for the weekend. Fab Lab : Century College From idea to reality Our Digital Fabrication Laboratory (Fab Lab), located on Century College’s East campus, is a “hi-tech tinkers” workshop for inventors and people who have a need to design, prototype and build things. In our lab, individuals who can envision an idea, have access to a variety of technologies which allow them to produce an end product through the use of computer-aided design and desktop manufacturing technologies. The Fab Lab is available to Century students, faculty and staff. Lab equipment The lab is equipped with open source CAD/CAM software, allowing people to design and manufacture products. Fab Lab equipment includes: a laser engraver mini-mills - 2 Sherlines & 1 Modela vinyl sheet/sign cutter 3D powder-based rapid prototyping machine ShopBot (4’ X 8’ CNC Router) and a host of hand tools and bench top machines It is possible to “make almost anything” in our lab, ranging from small electronic circuits to full-sized boats, and even small modular cabins. Fab lab Un fab lab ou fablab[1] (contraction de l'anglais fabrication laboratory, « laboratoire de fabrication ») est un tiers-lieu de type makerspace[2] cadré par le Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) et la FabFoundation[3] en proposant un inventaire minimal[4] permettant la création des principaux projets fab labs, un ensemble de logiciels et solutions libres et open-sources, les Fab Modules[5], et une charte de gouvernance, la Fab Charter[6]. Pour être identifié en tant que fab lab par la FabFoundation, il faut passer par plusieurs étapes[7] et il est possible de suivre une formation à la Fab Academy[8]. Les fab labs sont réunis en un réseau mondial très actif, d'après son initiateur Neil Gershenfeld[9]. FabLabSquared Le prototype Fab Lab Squared (FL2) a pour objet de créer la "matrice" technique, servicielle et organisationnelle des futurs Fab Labs qui pourront s’installer dans des universités, des campus d’entreprises ou incubateurs, des lieux associatifs et culturels. Un projet doublement innovant : Fera émerger pour la 1ère fois en France ce nouveau dispositif d’innovation qu’est le Fab Lab, pour faciliter l’émergence le prototypage et l’expérimentation d’objets et d’espaces innovants, au croisement du numérique et du physique ; Enrichira le concept même de Fab Lab, en inventant un Fab Lab mobile à déploiement rapide, qui aide à créer d’autres Fab Labs, et qui construit même un certain nombre des machines à commande numérique qui viendront l’équiper.
