Is there an easy way to alter the size of a Cross Stitch Pattern? | Tiny Modernist One of our lovely customers asked, “I love this pattern and want to make it for my son’s room, but it is smaller than I would like. Is there an easy way for me to adjust this pattern to be bigger?” The answer is: YES! There are 2 ways you can adjust the size of your Cross Stitch Pattern: This is the easiest method: use the pattern as is, but change the size (count) of your Aida cloth! All of our Cross stitch Patterns are designed for 14-count Aida cloth, which has 14 squares per inch. If you want your design to be larger, use a SMALLER count, such as 6-, 8- or 11-count Aida cloth, which has larger squares (fewer squares per inch) and will make your finished design larger. This method will ALSO work to SHRINK your pattern. This is next method: use the same size of Aida Cloth, but change the pattern slightly! This method is a little more complicated, but works well to DOUBLE the size of your finished piece, and STILL uses 14-count Aida cloth. What do you do? See this example below: Like this:
Standard Quilt Sizes Chart: King, Queen, Twin, Crib and More While quilt designers don't adhere to standard quilt sizes when designing, manufacturers tend to be a bit more conscientious and do follow some general guidelines. Manufacturers DO use standard measurements Our chart (below) shows standard mattress, bedding and quilt sizes for the US. The measurements are approximate; there are slight variations between manufacturers. We've listed pre-cut, packaged quilt battings, too. After deciding what size quilt best fits your bed, add approximately 6" to both width and length measurements to determine the batting size you'll need. Quilts that will be long arm quilted may need additional batting and backing. While manufacturers use standard quilt sizes for production, we all know that the quilt size you NEED depends on the mattress, bed frame and the "look" you desire for the bed to be covered. Check out "Estimate the Quilt Sizes Needed for YOUR Bed" for help determining the right size for you. Return to the top of Standard Quilt Sizes Chart
Crochet Bowl Tutorial Hello Lovelies, here is my photo tutorial for crocheting a bowl like the ones above. First lets talk yarn. For this project you will preferably need some cotton yarn or similar. Stretchy or woolly yarn will not have the strength to allow the bowl to maintain its shape. The next thing to consider is hook size. This bowl is made in a continuous spiral so even though I'm writing about rounds there is no start and finish point to each round and it is important to have a stitch marker ( I use a safety pin ) to remember where each round begins and ends. This tutorial is for 6 inch bowl....the biggest size I've made (on the left in ths picture above ) At the end of this tutorial are instructions for making the smaller sizes . So lets make a start shall we. Holding two strands together make a slip knot in the normal way.... Next chain 2........ Insert hook in the first chain........ Round 1 Make 6 single crochet into the same chain. This is the end of round 6......
