House of Turquoise

House of Turquoise
Not only are our winters LONG here in Minnesota, they can be absolutely dreary too–especially now when spring is fighting it's way out. We need our homes to be cozy and bright, and this home by Minneapolis-based Renae Keller Interior Design is exactly what I love to see! The open and inviting living space photographed by Troy Thies feels both comfortable and fresh, thanks to the cozy neutral tones and fun splashes of color! Such cool, modern details here too–the lighting and art are fantastic! And love the wallpaper detail behind the shelves! For even more eye candy from Renae Keller, head here!

beachcomber: seaside style I think this gorgeous seaside home has been around the internet for a few years now 'cause I've admired this bedroom for a while. This weekend I was happy to come across a bit more of this place on a Danish website. I'm not sure where it, it does look Scandinavian though, don't you think? 50 Books & 50 More Books to Read in Kindergarten Author: Tedd Arnold Publisher: Cartwheel Books (2005) Binding: Hardcover, 32 pages Item Call Number: ann wood I’m working on several new ships – it’s been ages and I especially love to make boats in the spring. The first is made from tattered antique gowns, layers of silk, tulle satin, lace and sheer cotton – stitched and stitched in a meandering way – inspired by the eccentric mending and layers of boro textiles. The 2 below are paper mache. I start with a layer of brown paper, torn up paper grocery bags (very old lady of me to save them) for the first layer over the cardboard armature and then layers of newsprint.

25 Abandoned Yugoslavia Monuments that look like they're from the Future These structures were commissioned by former Yugoslavian president Josip Broz Tito in the 1960s and 70s to commemorate sites where WWII battles took place (like Tjentište, Kozara and Kadinjača), or where concentration camps stood (like Jasenovac and Niš). They were designed by different sculptors (Dušan Džamonja, Vojin Bakić, Miodrag Živković, Jordan and Iskra Grabul, to name a few) and architects (Bogdan Bogdanović, Gradimir Medaković...), conveying powerful visual impact to show the confidence and strength of the Socialist Republic. In the 1980s, these monuments attracted millions of visitors per year, especially young pioneers for their "patriotic education."

Diaper Style Memoirs remember my DIY sailing party invite post? one of our lovely readers asked for some invite ideas and i was more than happy to help. she wanted something easy, fun and creative. i came up with these! and then i got a few more party ideas that i thought you would like as well. so i decided to throw a little sailing soiree for the kids. a fun way to kick off the first day of summer. since we weren’t celebrating any special occasion i tried to keep the spending to a minimum. and i am proud to report that the party cost me $20. that’s all! without resorting to extreme couponing :) i used my first DIY party tip – use paper! make something Photos and text by Gabrielle. Video by the amazing Gusto Life in Digital. This post is brought to you by Pier 1 Imports. I’m so excited to share this project with you! I worked with Pier 1 to create a video showing how to put together a holiday entry in three totally different styles.

simple blueprint Today I want to share a lovely story with you, a heart warming story. I fell in love with the dress above (even blogged about it here), but since I snoozed for a minute it was sold out by the time I went to buy it. I was frustrated and I just could not shake the dress. Finally I emailed Zadig & Voltaire to see if maybe maybe they had one somewhere. A few weeks later I received an email from Cecilia Bonstrom, head designer of Zadig, telling me that she was going to see if she could find one for me. I was so excited! Guest Post by Design Shuffle! Sabbe Interior Design (via) We're thinking about Kermit the Frog these days...maybe it is because everywhere we look outside we see bright, bold greens in our gardens and yards. Well, unlike Kermit, we think it's easy being green. Bold greens, ranging from chartreuse to grass green to kelly green, add a lively splash of color to a room. How bold you want to be is up to you, scour "shelter magazines" for more green interior design ideas.

Dress Design Decor Not sure if I mentioned this before, but underneath the lofts where I live, as well as in the original building beside me, they're opening up a number of new stores i'm pretty excited about. Vincenzo's - an italian grocer/café/flower/butcher shop is finally starting to set up, which will be so handy to pop into right after work. An art gallery, card shop, baby store and spa are going in for sure... and there's still a few unknown spaces in construction. Activities Guide: Enhancing & Practicing Executive Function Skills Executive function and self-regulation (EF/SR) skills provide critical supports for learning and development, and while we aren’t born with these skills, we are born with the potential to develop them through interactions and practice. This 16-page guide (available for download, below), describes a variety of activities and games that represent age-appropriate ways for adults to support and strengthen various components of EF/SR in children. Each chapter of this guide contains activities suitable for a different age group, from infants to teenagers. The guide may be read in its entirety (which includes the introduction and references) or in discrete sections geared to specific age groups.
