House of Turquoise

House of Turquoise
Not only are our winters LONG here in Minnesota, they can be absolutely dreary too–especially now when spring is fighting it's way out. We need our homes to be cozy and bright, and this home by Minneapolis-based Renae Keller Interior Design is exactly what I love to see! The open and inviting living space photographed by Troy Thies feels both comfortable and fresh, thanks to the cozy neutral tones and fun splashes of color! Such cool, modern details here too–the lighting and art are fantastic! And love the wallpaper detail behind the shelves! For even more eye candy from Renae Keller, head here!

Thoughts from Alice W.: Where This Blogger Creates... When the very lovely Karen Valentine invited me to join her Where Blogger's Create party, I jumped at the chance, and took it as an opportunity to finally have the motivation I needed to get my studio cleaned up and organized. We have lived in this home for almost two years now...and this studio has acted more as a storage room than space to work. But no longer... Now it is a haven to create in...filled with inspiration and beautiful things that I have collected through the years. Albeit...it is a cluttered space...now perhaps 'chaotically' organized...but everything has a place.

Delfin-Postigo house (Yatzer: Design Architecture Art Fashion +more) We wanted to commence 2010 with a residence encompassing a strong unique quality in both the design and the aesthetic domain. A residence capturing the meaning of essence and symbolism. Real Estate Investing 101 for Beginners When you invest in real estate, your goal is to put money to work today and make it grow so you have more money in the future. You have to make enough profit, or "return", to cover the risk you take, taxes you pay, and the costs of owning the real estate investment such as utilities and insurance. In other words, once you understand the basics of the game, real estate investing really can be as conceptually simple as playing monopoly. Your goal is to buy properties, avoid bankruptcy, and generate rent so that you can buy even more properties. But "simple" doesn't mean "easy".

pia jane bijkerk The humid air and persistent drizzle last Saturday (actually the Saturday before last… it’s taken me quite some time to compose this post) did not deter us from having an intimate garden party to celebrate Laly’s second birthday. I have not hosted a party since we lived on the houseboat in Amsterdam, so I was feeling a bit daunted about the idea and wondered if I could do it without getting completely overwhelmed and stressed (the main reason why I don’t host parties – dinner ones or otherwise). I worked hard for the two weeks leading up to the event to be really present with my time and to let things go if they weren’t working out the way I intended, or if things happened that stopped me from being able to create exactly what I had envisioned. My intention was to try my best to have fun with each part of the process – painting the bunting, gathering the flora, cooking, setting up… I still got stressed, and we still had a family meltdown the day of the party.

beachbungalow8 Dress Design Decor Not sure if I mentioned this before, but underneath the lofts where I live, as well as in the original building beside me, they're opening up a number of new stores i'm pretty excited about. Vincenzo's - an italian grocer/café/flower/butcher shop is finally starting to set up, which will be so handy to pop into right after work. An art gallery, card shop, baby store and spa are going in for sure... and there's still a few unknown spaces in construction.

the style files Finally we are back! After my old hosting company Lunarpages had kept this site offline for days (horrible customer service) I had to move to a new hosting company. I hate the technical stuff and I am very relieved that everything is working fine now. Thanks for your patience, I hope this site will be better and faster than ever! Let’s start this new period with a beautiful villa in Norway.

Yard Sales 101: Lara Spencer’s Tips for Decorating on a Budget Apr 2, 2012 8:05am It’s true Lara Spencer really does “Brake for Yard Sales”….not to mention flea markets, thrift shops and, no, she’s not ashamed to admit it, even the occasional dumpster. Her passion is finding cheap vintage finds and transforming them into high-end interior design, often bringing them back to life in her very own workshop, a.k.a. her driveway. Meet Decorator Jan Eleni Are you ready to read a refreshingly honest interview with an interior decorator? I encourage you to read this interview that I had yesterday with interior decorator Jan Eleni Lemonedes from Jan Eleni Inc. in New York City. She speaks boldly and from an authentic place and I really value the time that I shared with her to develop this feature for you. I hope that you like it, too. First, a bit of history about this talented lady.
