The increased limit will apply to a single ISA, called the New Isa or NISA, which combines the current cash and stocks & shares wrappers. Under the new regime, individuals will be able to invest the whole amount in cash, compared to present rules where only half of the 11,520 GBP can be invested in cash and the rest in stocks and shares. It has been clear for some time that Virgin’s foray into peer to peer lending in the US was not working out the way it expected. But now it looks like they have completely pulled the plug in the US. The consequences of this move for borrowers and lenders is minimal. While there is no information as to the reason the site was taken down, we are left to wonder what went wrong. Not to worry. [Update: A former executive of Virgin Money US has started National Family Mortgage to facilitate home loans between family members.
