The capture was highlighted by National Geographic as one of the best ‘Photos of the Day‘ for the month of August 2012. The Drina is a 346 km long river that forms much of the border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. Ce qui est intéressant, c’est que cette tendance à privilégier le Moi aux dépends des autres, à se centrer sur ses intérêts, son point de vue, son analyse, est un stade naturel et nécessaire de l’enfance, mais qui, dans un développement épanouissant, doit considérablement s’estomper. Les égoïstes, égocentriques et égotiques sont donc des grands enfants finalement. 1/ Egoïste : qui privilégie ses intérêts, sans se soucier d’autrui. Au XVII ème siècle, on parlait d’amour-propre. 2/ Egocentrique : littéralement, qui est centré sur soi, qui n’envisage la réalité de son environnement qu’avec son point de vue. Contrairement à l’égoïste qui ne fait aucun cas des autres, l’égocentrique a besoin du regard des autres. 3/ Egotique : qui s’adonne au culte du Moi, qui parle toujours de soi.

In communicating a message, a balance has to be achieved between the visual and the verbal aspects of a design. Sometimes, however, designers explore the visual aspect of type to a much greater extent than the verbal. Cal Swan, author of Language and Typography, makes this point well when he says, “These two distinct areas often come together in practice as there is clearly a very strong relationship between the conception of the words as a message and their transmission in visible form.” To avoid any misunderstanding, let’s clarify what the terms “visual language” and “verbal language” mean. In this first of a two-part series1, we will look at the powerful effect that typography has in taking control of meaning.
