Playing with Displace Filter in Photoshop I have been playing a lot with the Displace filter in Photoshop and I still get impressed with how powerful it is. Even though I have written some tutorials using it, I decided to try to recreate a different effect that I saw in one of the images submitted for the Daily Inspiration. It was a brick wall deformed like it was made of cloth. So in this tutorial, or a quick-tips I will show you how to create a curtain made of bricks or how to deform a brick wall as it was a curtain. Step 1 Open Photoshop and create a new document. Step 2 Let's import another image, now of a girl opening the curtains. Step 3 With the Lasso Tool (L) or the Pen Tool (P) select the empty white. Step 5 Now select the hands/arms of the girl and the curtains. Step 6 Move the brick wall layer so it will be in front of the girl layer. Step 7 Go to Layer>Layer Mask>Hide Selection. Step 8 Duplicate the girl layer and delete the girl using the mask of the bricks wall for reference. Step 9 Step 10 Step 11 Step 12 Step 13 Step 14

Free Hi-Res Old Book Textures – part 1 Who says we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover? Apparently they know nothing about design and textures ;). I have collected a bunch of these vintage books from library sales with the intent on making some textures. There’s something cool about the way a book wears out. It gives it character. So this texture pack (part 1) includes high resolution scanned images (3000-5000px) of old fashioned book covers (cross hatched cloth and paper), stained pages and library date cards with stamped due dates from 60s and 70s. Screwy Portraits Andrew Myers uses common screws - up to 10,000 of them at a time, to creates these wonderful three-dimensional portraits.
Pencil Vs Camera by Ben Heine Ben Heine (born June 12, 1983 in Abidjan, Ivory coast) is a Belgian multidisciplinary visual artist. He is best known for his original series “Pencil Vs Camera”, “Digital Circlism” and “Flesh and Acrylic”. “Pencil Vs Camera” mixes drawing and photography, imagination and reality. It’s a new visual concept invented and initiated by Ben Heine in 2010. It’s full of magic, illusion, poetry and surrealism. All sizes | Bluebonnets and a Spring Storm Lewis Lavoie Creates Mural Mosaics from Hundreds of Individual Paintings Invented by Lewis Lavoie, Mural Mosaic is an artistic concept which brings together hundreds of artworks painted by various artists into one exceptional image. Lewis Lavoie created his first mural mosaic in 1997, for a retaining wall next to an art gallery in St. Albert, Alberta, Canada. For this, the artist painted hundreds of individual paintings that were ultimately assembled to make up the face of Michelangelo’s David. It was a monumental achievement that helped Lavoie gain international attention for his unique style. But that was only the beginning of the mural mosaic movement, as seven years later Lewis takes his ingenious concept to the next level, by inviting 70 different artists to create the first community mural mosaic.
