Banksy
We felt it necessary to blurb a bit about the illusive Banksy’s Barely Legal show here in LA this passed weekend. This highly anticipated event drew a star studded line of onlookers and passersby. Just a few of the celebrities in attendance were Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Shepard Fairey, Perry Farrell (formerly Jane’s Addiction), Zack De La Rocha (formerly of Rage Against the Machine), Meg White (of the White Stripes), Jason Lee, and Jared Leto just to name a few. Most of the buzz from the show stemmed from the live pink and gold painted elephant displayed in the living room setting. This drew heavy criticism from PETA, who began handing out bills to attendants in protest of the event.

Zemer Peled Peled was born and raised in a Kibbutz in the northern part of Israel. After completing a BA (Hons) at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem she graduated with an MA (Hons) from the Royal College of Art. In recent years her work has been featured nationally and internationally in museums and galleries including Sotheby’s and Saatchi Gallery-London, Eretz Israel Museum-Tel Aviv and the Orangerie du Senate, Paris among others. Zemer Peled’s work examines the beauty and brutality of the natural world. Her sculptural language is formed by her surrounding landscapes and nature, engaging with themes of nature and memories, identity and place.

Carved Book Landscapes by Guy Laramee
(click images for detail) For the better part of three decades multidisciplinary artist Guy Laramee has worked as a stage writer, director, composer, a fabricator of musical instruments, a singer, sculptor, painter and writer. Among his sculptural works are two incredible series of carved book landscapes and structures entitled Biblios and The Great Wall, where the dense pages of old books are excavated to reveal serene mountains, plateaus, and ancient structures. Of these works he says: So I carve landscapes out of books and I paint Romantic landscapes.
Heike Weber Installations
Utterly amazing installations by Heike Weber. She draws with permanentmarkers on acrylic floor and walls – surfaces that have reached up to 600 m2. I can’t begin to imagine how time consuming these breathtaking installations must have been. Via TRIANGULATION

first image 'on space time foam' by tomàs saraceno image © al essandro cocco designboom met with argentinian artist tomàs saraceno to discuss his latest work 'on space time foam' on show at the hangar bicocca in milan, italy until the 3rd of february, 2013. saraceno is well known for conceiving large-scale aerial artworks, with this most recent iteration at the hangar, curated by andrea lissoni, no exception - a multi-layered installation of translucent PVC membranes suspended 24 meters above the ground. the work is a cohesive, extraordinary culmination of the artist's fascination and knowledge of airborne biospheres - merging theoretical frameworks and knowledge from engineering, physics, chemistry, aeronautics and materials science for a greater insight into not only future societies, but the human condition. a video showing visitors interacting with the artwork video © designboom the concept is informed by the tradition of 20th-century utopian architecture image © designboom
