Anomalies -- the Strange & Unexplained dying_dreams: Snape/Hermione fanfic recommendations. A little while ago, vampiresetsuna requested that I gave her some Snape/Hermione fanfiction recommendations, and here they are. It's a long list of recommendations, which I have taken from the Snape/Hermione threads at White Flag; I compiled all the recs that I and my other fellow SS/HG 'shippers at the board had given over time. So here are the fanfic recs, in particular order. If you find that a link is broken, it is recommended that you either let me know, or try the Wayback Machine. 1. I think I can safely say that the fanfiction you see listed here is among the best you can find on the Internet. Note: Italicised fanfics are WIPs and may or may not have been abandoned by their author. 1. Should you crave for more, I suggest you visit the following archives and websites: ● Dark Sarcasm● Fanfiction recommendations at 'Why Snape?' Black Mirror / rorriM kcalB Raptitude What is Raptitude? Raptitude is a blog about getting better at being human. We never think of “being human” as something you can get better at, but it is, and your skill level is the biggest determining factor in how good your life is. Getting better at being human comes down to how good you are at a set of skills that schools don’t teach: Managing your moods and reactionsStopping your mind from talking so muchLosing your self-consciousness and shynessGetting over the pastSetting up a life that makes use of your talentsQuitting habits that drain youDealing with problems without getting madEnjoying ordinary moments like waiting for the bus …and dozens more. Quality-of-life-related skills have been the primary focus in life for the last fifteen years. Raptitude gets over 200,000 visits in a typical month, and over 12,000 people get it every week by email. -David Cain Photo by David Cain

They're Autistic--and They're in Love: Magazine Lindsey Nebeker and Dave Hamrick each used to wonder if they’d ever find lasting love. Here’s how they came together—and how, side by side, they face the world. There are two bedrooms in the cozy Jackson, Mississippi, apartment: Dave Hamrick’s is like a dad’s den, with a striped beige armchair and a hanging map; Lindsey Nebeker’s is darkly girly, with spiky dried roses hung over a bed topped by a graphic leaf-print quilt. An observer might assume the two are amicable, if oddball, roommates. About 1.5 million people in the United States (an estimated one fifth of them are female) have autism, with varying degrees of severity. “I hear a lot of loneliness, sadness and fear among the autistic adults I meet,” says Stephen Shore, author of Beyond the Wall and an internationally recognized expert on autism who has the disorder himself. Lindsey and Dave have experienced their fair share of heartache: at school, among so-called friends, in their search for partners.

Clinton Road (New Jersey) There are very few houses along the road and much of the adjoining property is undeveloped publicly owned woodlands (either City of Newark watershed or state forest) and the road itself is a narrow two-lane highway that receives little maintenance, is not part of New Jersey's county route system and was until fairly recently unpaved for some of its length, connecting two areas of minimal population and growth and thus having little traffic even at the busiest times of day. 18th-century smelter mistakenly believed to be a Druidic temple In May 1983, a human body was found in the woods close to the road. According to Weird NJ, legend dictates that a cyclist going down the road discovered the body after investigating a vulture feasting at a spot in the nearby trees. KML is from Wikidata

Western Blindness to Non-Western Philosophies We have always been and remain insular. The insularity I am referring to is our professional blindness to any but Western philosophy, which fills our whole professional horizon. Insularity tempts us by its overestimation of whatever we have learned wherever we happen to have grown up, but it is no intellectual birthright. There have been more than a few great thinkers who have done their best to resist it. Kant and Hegel, both conscientious, omnivorous scholars, took the trouble to learn what they could of Indian and Chinese thought, even though, as has become clear, they were not informed well enough to allow them to make plausible judgments. The desire of Kant, Hegel, Humboldt, and their likes to philosophize out of a truly comprehensive knowledge is rare among contemporary philosophers. Given the depths of our Western insularity and the limits of my essay, I have had to ask myself how I could best convey that our ignorance keeps us isolated and small-minded.
