How To Do A French Accent (Accents) There are many sounds that are spoken in the French language that differ from sound's that are heard in the English language. In this tutorial an actor teaches how to speak with a French accent in English. Hello I'm an actor and a voice coach. I teach people how to make changes to their voice. Alright the key to any accent is to find out the sounds that are specific to that accent and try and copy them. If you try to speak French and go to France you're going to make a mistake if you say "tray". What you need to do is imagine the dangly bit in the back of your mouth, that's your uvular right back there. So in words like rain we doing say "rain" we say "rain". "Thank you so much for this" (repeats 3 times). So if you want to do a French accent drop your h's. Rather than saying "in" you say "in". Not all french people are like that but it helps me and it might help you to so give it a try.

Jim Stolze » The future of the Internet Posted on 16-03-2009 in categories english, events Well, isn’t that nice: the Web turned 20 this week! And of course, the Internet is much older, but when we speak of “the web” we need to go back to 1989 for a rather techy -immaculate- collection by the web’s father, Tim Berners-Lee: Then CERN (Switzerland) was the largest Internet node in Europe, and Berners-Lee saw an opportunity to join hypertext with the Internet: “I just had to take the hypertext idea and connect it to the Transmission Control Protocol and domain name system ideas and — ta-da! — the World Wide Web.”He wrote his initial proposal in March 1989, and in 1990, with the help of Robert Cailliau, produced a revision which was accepted by his manager, Mike Sendall. Mr. Happy birthday everyone!

5 Terrific Ted Talks on Future Technologies Andrew Maynard is a scientist and emerging technology adviser. He blogs at 2020 Science and tweets as @2020science. What will a technology-driven world look like 10, 50, or even 100 years from now? So here’s a taster-menu of five great TED talks on how technology might influence the future. I’ve used a few simple rules in selecting the talks: - Was I hooked within the first few seconds? Some of the ideas here are more speculation than science, so you might want to wear your skeptic glasses while watching. 1. Forget surfing the web; with the overwhelming torrent of information now available, the experience often feels more like drowning these days. 2. What if you could change the way your brain works, without drugs or surgery? 3. When I first met Aubrey de Grey, he introduced himself as someone who doesn’t believe in death. 4. Juan Enriquez' talk is a slow burner; you don’t get to the tech stuff until about half way through. 5. Image courtesy of iStockphoto, MarkCoffeyPhoto
