Cinnamon Pull Apart Bread – Matkonation By: Deanna Linder In Plato’s book, The Symposium, the Greek playwright, Aristophanes describes the reason why humans say they found their other half when falling in love. He gives a speech about primates who had double bodies, with faces that turned away from one another. To make a long story short, Zeus, punished these primates by splitting them in half, separating the two bodies. According to Aristophanes, ever since then, people are in search of their other half. Culinary-speaking, there seems to be a similar phenomenon; ingredients, coming from different sources, which seem to innately go together. One morning I arrive to Danya’s studio and her Google reader is open onto one of our favorite blogs, Joy the Baker. Being the more American of the two (Danya was born in the US), this was definitely my type of recipe. Being more a cook than a baker, when I try out baking recipes I like to stick to what’s written for the first try. Needless to say once this was photographed, it was gone.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Peanut Butter Cups Soooooo… you know that episode of Sex and the City where Miranda has to dump dish soap on top of chocolate cake just so she will stop eating it?? Uh. Yeeeeeah. These are like… of that caliber. And that totally almost happened to me. I ate what felt like a million, then had a plate of 5-day old green bean fries from the fridge and called it lunch. I definitely recommend those. For lunch. Face? Inhale. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Peanut Butter Cups [cookie dough adapted from cookie dough dip] makes 24 cups 2 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips 1/2 cup unsalted butter 1/3 cup packed brown sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter 3/4 cup powdered sugar 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips In a small saucepan, heat butter until melted. makes » recipe: lemon meringue cupcakes Amazing idea last week: lemon meringue cupcakes. I could make a lemony cake part, then bake a meringue right on top! No need to frost, super easy recipe! And to boot, these are 165 calories apiece. While the above does appear to be what I described, it is not. There are a few “specialty” tools required for this recipe. Start with the curd so it has time to chill while all that other stuff is going on. This isn’t a bad time to go over how to zest a lemon. Also, isn’t that lemon HUGE? Speaking of lemons, for both the curd and the batter, I recommend straining your fresh lemon juice. The batter has this subtle speckle of lemon rind yellow. While that’s in the oven, we make our way to the third part: meringue. Now we need a way for the meringues will fit the cupcakes. Then I spoon the meringue onto each dot and smooth it out to the circumference of the paper circle, then around in a spiral to make that nice swirly peak. And now that everything’s all squared away and set, let’s assemble!

Spicy Pulled Chicken & Healthy Food For Living By Lauren Zembron, on December 15th, 2010 Do you like spicy food? I’m talking lip-tingling, sinus-clearing, runny nose-inducing spicy fare. Like this pulled chicken. Thanks to the trifecta of a whole jalapeno pepper, chipotle chile powder, and cayenne pepper, this Spicy Pulled Chicken definitely lives up to its name. I made this spicy pulled chicken on a cold, rainy afternoon, (where’s the snow, Boston?!) Plans for leftovers include pulled chicken quesadillas with an avocado & Greek yogurt sauce for dipping. Spicy Pulled Chicken serves 4-6 Ingredients: Directions: Heat a drizzle of oil in a large dutch oven (or other heavy-bottomed pot) over medium heat. *I like to make the pulled chicken early in the afternoon, let it sit at room temperature (off of the heat) for a few hours, and then warm it through right before serving. What is the best spicy meal you’ve ever had? Other recipes to check out:

Idea by Janice Kamide Images Source BuzzFeed Apple Pie with Cheddar Crust — So Delicious This is the sort of discovery that inspires me to host a dinner party. After just one bite, I began envisioning the scene: my guests’ hands reaching to the center of the table; the plate piled high with steaming, half-mooned pastries slowly disappearing; the silence as first bites are taken. Just anticipating the reactions — “apple and cheddar?!” I’ve been wanting to make an apple pie with a cheddar crust for several years now. While apple with cheddar is an age-old pairing, their union in a pie, for me at least, still came as a surprise. Mom and Auntie, in town for the weekend, reading to Ella Cameo and Fuji apples from Catoctin Mountain Orchard The Cameo apples were some of the best apples I have ever tasted. I adore this cheddar. How To Make Perfect Brownies | How To Cook Like Your Grandmother I’ve tried lots of brownie recipes: Boxes, scratch, frosted, plain, nuts, chips, fudge … Each of them has something to like, but depending on my mood I might want a change of pace. Not any more. My wife found this recipe, and it’s perfect. Ingredients 1½ cups sugar ¾ cup flour ¾ cup cocoa powder (see note below) 3 eggs ¾ cup butter, melted ½ teaspoon salt (if using unsalted butter) ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (see note below) Directions A NOTE ON CHOCOLATE: You’ll notice the list of ingredients is very short. The assembly is about as easy as you can get. Do this by hand, until the dry ingredients are just incorporated into the wet, and stop. Stir in the chocolate chips. Line a 9×13 baking dish with parchment. Pour the batter and spread it out. Bake at 325° for 20-30 minutes. Very carefully lift the parchment out of the baking dish. Peel the edges and let cool for a few minutes before slicing. Pour yourself a glass of milk, and that’s it. Make these in two minutes flat Like this recipe?
