Chinese media, marketing, advertising, and urban life - Danwei What's It Like to Be a Tourist in North Korea? - Interview by Christina Larson On special guided trips, arranged for tourists and permitted by Pyongyang, Patrick Chovanec, a professor at Tsinghua University's School of Economics and Management in Beijing, has twice visited North Korea. On each trip, he and his fellow travelers were accompanied by official guides, only permitted in certain areas, and asked to delete "objectionable" photos from their digital cameras. Yet the visits afforded Chovanec a rare glimpse inside the Hermit Kingdom. FP recently caught up with Chovanec to share his experiences to take us, vicariously, inside Kim Il Sung's mausoleum, a North Korean classroom, and a gilded casino that has seen better days. What we learned: North Korea is indeed a real place, where ordinary people must make due in extraordinary circumstances. Foreign Policy: When were you in North Korea -- and where did you visit? Patrick Chovanec: I've made two trips to North Korea. I just returned from my second trip in July. FP: What were your impressions of Pyongyang?

How To Register a .com.my Domain Name | Internet Marketing Malaysia I thought of putting up this simple guide, since I had to register 2 .com.my domain names in the past week and I found the process to be complicated and rather tedious compared to buying a .com domain name. It seems like a lot of work need to be done and most of the sites you’ll have to go through are poorly documented. A few things to not when going after .com.my domain names: Only registered companies are allowed to buy domains – if you don’t have at least a sole proprietor business, you cannot buy any The .com.my registrar is Mynic.net.my and all registrations have to go through them You must find a reseller and order through the reseller, which will in turn lead to Mynic.net.my – all resellers must be Malaysian companies I used Ipxcess.com to find a .com.my domain name, as recommended by a friend. The documentation in Ipxcess.com and Mynic.net.my is very bad. If the company you’re using also lacks documentation, the best thing to do is to call them. Mynic works with “handles”.

interview | a chat with blueprint, a digital creative collective “From a deep pool of blue ink rises an image…” – this is written on Blueprint‘s Neocha.com homepage, a digital collective that describes itself as a Chinese creative group with no artistic bounds. In an “Internet world” filled with many options for exploring different kinds of creative content, we find ourselves frequently entering Blueprint’s creative world. Their distinctive style comes from the ambient / “lowercase” electronic sound they produce as well as their visual works, which exude a subtle mysticism. The depth and breadth of content under the “Blueprint” name actually comes from members who live in many cities, including Zhengzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Nanjing, among others. It’s important to note here that the new generation of Chinese creatives can’t be neatly divided into the usual first tier city, second tier city, etc. classifications. We’ve also shared some of Blueprints music in the embeddable player below. Yue Xi is a very talented.

Silicon Hutong In the HutongFocus...Focus...1558 hrs. While I was absorbing caffeine and beta carotene at a sunny Beverly Hills espresso spigot earlier this month, I came across a superb article in the Wall Street Journal explaining how the U.S. motion picture business is starting to make films that are aimed at an international market. The phenomenon has reached such a stage, in fact, that movies ONLY likely to appeal to a domestic U.S. audience are not getting the green light, and those films deemed promising but too US centric are being given script and casting makeovers to make themselves more appealing to international audience. Darn those Foreigners Paying to See Our Movies! About time Hollywood woke up to the rest of the planet, I say, but writing in The City Journal, New York's local Neoconservative periodical, author Andrew Klavan apparently thinks otherwise. "...perhaps the economic necessity of appealing to countries other than America has sapped American movies of their quality.
