Terry's Tales of Learning » Bloom’s Taxonomy Some rights reserved by Cesar R. I’m excited to have an opportunity to create an authentic unit that integrates a number of core subjects and provides opportunities to link to IS Bangkok‘s Definition of Learning. Since we have a good window of time this semester, it will allow us 8 weeks to work on our original science unit, meeting the science standards and concluding with a student-selected scientific project. We will then have time available to extend the unit to meet Technology and Information Literacy (TAIL) and Global Citizenship standards and make the unit more authentic. As technology and global citizenship are both passions of mine, I’m hoping to create a unit that embeds technology meaningfully and authentically, makes our students more aware of global issues and best of all, enhances learning. Science Unit- Water Our current science unit focuses on water. Transfer goals **Water is the most important substance on Earth. Essential Questions **How does water change and why?

Performance Assessments - Teachers College Reading & Writing Project ** These performance assessments were created by the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project for NYC Department of Education and some are owned by NYC Department of Education. The NYC Department of Education has agreed to allow Teachers College Reading and Writing Project to post the performance assessment online to support your students' academic progress. You must obtain permission from the NYC Department of Education for any other use of the assessments. ** Performance Assessments engage students in authentic, high-level work that is aligned to curricular standards so that we can more carefully plan for instruction that meets students where they are and truly moves them forward. The overarching goal of asking students to perform in these ways is to give you a clear sense of what students have internalized and what still needs support in regards to the standards-based skills at hand.

Arranging the high school standards into courses Here is a suggested arrangement of the high school standards into courses, developed with funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Pearson Foundation, by a group of people including Patrick Callahan and Brad Findell. I haven’t looked at it closely, but it seems to be a solid effort by people familiar with the standards, so I put it up for comment and discussion. There are five files: the first four are graphic displays of the arrangement of the standards into both traditional and integrated sequences, with the standards referred to by their codes. The fifth is a description of the arrangement with the text of the standards and commentary. 9_11 Scope and Sequence_traditional1 9_11 Scope and Sequence_traditional2 9_11 Scope and Sequence_integrated1 9_11 Scope and Sequence_integrated2 High School Units-All-03feb12 Like this: Like Loading... Allan's Blog Powered by Traduttore When I received the invitation from the new Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, I decided to completely upgrade two seminar workshops. Dr Ian Green from the School of Education here at Adelaide and I have used Padagogy101 (introduction to iPad in HE) and Padagogy201 (more advanced use for L&T) to train over 600 faculty from universities in Australia. It was a huge amount of work to meet the Singapore deadlines and involved quite a bit of lost sleep. with the action verbs. I have added 62 iPad apps to the wheel and put them where they could serve the pedagogy. When I first posted this blog entry I had the files and resources for the presentations in my Public folder of my dropbox. Think outside the box and consider the possibilities! In the 15 months from Jan 2014 until Mar 2015 139.324 copies of the Padagogy Wheel V1 thru V3 PDF posters have been downloaded from this blog site.
