Vancouver Photographer - Dina Goldstein David Hamilton Dès le milieu des années 60, alors qu'il a déjà accompli un solide parcours dans des fonctions artistiques pour des magazines prestigieux à Paris, Londres, New York ainsi qu'au sein des Grands Magasins du Printemps, il décide de se consacrer entièrement à la photographie. Très vite son style, qu'on appelle désormais du nom de son auteur, caractérisé par ses couleurs pastel, sa lumière douce au flouté artistique, ses ambiances vaporeuses, va s'imposer et marquer les esprits pour longtemps. David Hamilton travaille tout simplement avec un appareil et la seule lumière du jour, sans aucune sophistication, sans artifice, à l'instinct, dans une recherche d'harmonie parfaite comme les peintres qui l'ont inspiré depuis son plus jeune âge. La notoriété est immense, les livres, expositions, films, campagnes de publicité se succèdent, les voyages aux quatre coins de la planète car il est réclamé partout! Jeff Wall (b. 1946, Vancouver, British Columbia. Lives and works in Vancouver.) Jeff Wall studied art history at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, and at the Courtauld Institute, London. His work has been exhibited in numerous international exhibitions, including at the Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea, Milan (2013), the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne (2012), and the Museo Tamayo, Mexico City (2008). He had a touring solo retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; The Art Institute of Chicago, and the San Francisco Museum of Art, in 2007. Jeff Wall has been the recipient of numerous prizes, including the Audain Prize for Lifetime Achievement in the Visual Arts (2008), The Paul de Hueck and Norman Walford Career Achievement Award for Art Photography (2001); Erna and Victor Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography (2002); and the Roswitha Haftmann Prize for the Visual Arts (2003).
