Avocado Hummus

Avocado Hummus
This avocado hummus is delicious. And I know I say that a lot, but I really rilly like this one. It’s a good one! In other related news, why are avocados so expensive? I get that they’re delicious, buttery, fatty (in a healthy way!) No but really… I like to consider myself a pretty good “ripe” fruit picker, but avocados sort of make me nervous, because sometimes they’re perfectly ripe, yet their exterior is still a little green. I sometimes put my pride on the side and I enlist the produce guy to help. This avocado hummus is exactly what it sounds like: avocado and hummus totally making out, getting married and making a child. I went the traditional hummus route. Can we also just discuss how delicious tahini is?! Crepes with Smoked Salmon and Lemon-Herb Sour Cream Recipe : : Recipes Directions In a medium bowl, add all of the crepe batter ingredients and whisk together until smooth. Expect the batter to be thinner than normal pancake batter. When ready to make the crepes, lightly brush a 6 to 8-inch crepe pan or small nonstick skillet with melted butter and put over medium-high heat. Ladle a few tablespoons of batter into the center of the hot pan. Lift the pan, removing it from the heat, and swirl so the batter coats the bottom of the pan in an even layer that's as thin as possible. Return the pan to the heat and cook until the edges crisp and the batter loses its shine, about 45 seconds to 1 minute. If making crepes in advance, you can either slide the cooked crepes onto a cookie sheet and keep warm in a 200 degree F oven, or stack on a plate, putting waxed paper between each layer to prevent sticking while you continue with the remaining batter. When ready to serve, heat 1 crepe in a pan and add some of the filling, warming slightly.

LaSaGnA TiMpAnO I went to see tUnE-yArDs on Monday night with some friends, and as always we wanted to cook a meal that somehow related to the show we were heading to. Sometimes this is hard to do, but other times it seems to come naturally. Finding culinary inspiration in Merrill's lyrics seemed like it would be tough, but my sister knew what she wanted to make without hesitation. "How about something layered, because of all the vocal and instrument layering in the music?" From there we worked together to come up with this deep, colorful, and multi-flavored lasagna version of a timpano. Start by making a lasagna crust. Finally got it together. Now it's easy, just start building the layers! Alfredo sauce with some salami goes first. After 3 alfredo layers, I switched to pesto. A cheese only layer, just for fun. Tomato sauce is last. It's important to press things down as you go. In my opinion, it can't be lasagna without at least a little ricotta! I painted on some alfredo at the end as a glue. All sealed up.
